I happened to travel by the Netravati Express last month. This train travels through some picturesque spots and passengers have a lovely view of the scenic beauty in the states of Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka and Kerala.
However the amenities for passengers leaves a lot to be desired. The rakes are old, dilapidated and filthy. The taps in the toilets either do not function properly or are leaking, the toilets are dirty and not cleaned regularly. The coaches are old and need to be modernized.
Besides, the train needs to be speeded up. It reaches most stations before time. This means that there is ample scope to reduce the travelling time and the Railways need to look into this.
The train should be terminated at Ernakulam instead of Trivandrum.
The above changes would ensure a comfortable, beautiful and relaxed train journey for passengers.
