In a Live interview on NDTV, Navjyot Singh sidhu says ''Ganguly will be easily replaced as a captain and as a player too''. Navjyot singh sidhu does have his say at times but does not really use his brain ever. He also says that Yuvraj is in better form than Ganguly. I really find it difficult to understand what he means by saying that.
Yuvraj has played a solitary test in India with scores of 20 and 5*. whilst ganguly has got 409 runs in his last 5 test matches with two centuries and one fifty, one of those centuries against Australia in australia. There is a huge difference between test cricket and ODI marked cricket. The biggest example of this is Andrew Symonds who is a amazing ODI cricketer but found himself out of sorts while playing test matches. Ganguly is not only irreplaceable as a batsman but also a captain.
Maybe Navjyot Singh sidhu meant Yuvraj Singh is in better ODI form than Ganguly. But in the recently concluded Samsung Cup ODI series between India and Pakistan, Ganguly scored 165 runs at an average of 33.0 while Yuvraj has scored 141 runs at an average of 28.20 each innings. This is not intended to show Yuvraj as a lesser bat than Ganguly but only to emphasise the saying ''Dont count your chickens before they hatch'' . Yuvraj is a classy ODI bat but test match is a different ball game. Lets not forget that Ganguly, Dravid and Laxman were chosen as test match batsmen but only because of their form, were they brought into ODI cricket where they are now.
Red ball seams more than the white ball and you can use reverse swing on a red ball but not a white ball.
I hope Yuvraj plays to his potential and in the future he sure will. In the captaincy department, we really cannot compare Ganguly and Dravid. Mr Dependable, rahul is not even half the captain Ganguly is because he lacks some qualities ganguly has, aggression, belief in his choice and backing his players. I hope God puts some sense in this Sardar's head who happens to be a non convicted Murderer but I think it is a bit too late.
Navjyot Singh sidhu is a old timer who does not know what it takes to be at the TOP. Sourav does ! Just want to add this. I dont have anything against his style of commentating but there is a certain limit which commentators usually do not cross. He does. When Ganguly does not bat well, Sidhu says that his mind ponders away from the match because of the sheer fact that he did not make runs. Does that make any sense ?.
