I have been restraining myself from reviewing because of reasons. But I think. I should do this as it might help people to get awareness about what is really happening with the lives of people in reputed hospitals. Here goes my story.
My father was admitted to this hospital on 04-12-2019 when he had his first heart attack. When he was taken to emergency, I still can picturise a doctor saying MI(Myocardial Infraction i.e heart attack) is ruled out as he had only vomiting and dizziness but not chest pain. It took them ONE LONG HOUR to diagnose what has happened. And later they shifted him to the cardiac wing where the primary angioplasty was done. Later we were told that they could not put stent and he has gone for CABG(Coronary artery bypass grafting). So, here comes our tragic phase.
As we had very less knowledge about the surgery and surgeon we should be consulting. We first consulted Dr. Devi Shetty who had a look at angioplasty video and said things will be fine and referred us to Dr. Ramesh Sheshari.
As the doctor went through the history, we were only told that my father will do good after surgery and NEVER EDUCATED ABOUT DEADLY RISKS POST SURGERY. Post this we were put inward where the patient(my father) is stabilized in all aspects before the surgery as it was an ELECTIVE and not EMERGENCY. It took him two weeks in the ward and he was actually doing good. All his organs were stabilized and his parameters looked good for surgery and he was taken to OT on 24-12-2020. We had a big shock after surgery because he came out with hell lot of supports(11 IV injection, IABP machine) which meant it was really a high-risk operation. Still, we were told that surgery went well and he will be shifted to a ward in a week. Now comes the challenge.
A week after surgery, doctors come up to say his kidneys are not working and we need to do dialysis and he will do good after one dialysis.
It was a clear marker that my father had kidney failure POST SURGERY. Nephrologists were actually the ones who were addressing the issue. Cardio people would say he will recover once his kidneys are fine as the ECHO is good and the heart is functioning well. And the nephrologists say the heart has not recovered from surgery. So there is ambiguity in themselves as to where the issue is.
Dialysis was done for a week, post which they said liver and brain are affected and on 13-01-2020 they came back and told he has developed sepsis and on the same day we lost him.
As we were given hope that he will do good after surgery, I had also filled the same hope in my father, now I regret for getting him for the surgery and making his life miserable.
It is so devastating that they made him suffer despite the fact the surgery was not successful.
If they knew the surgery was a high risk one, then they could have probably told us before rather than telling it post-surgery when we things become helpless.
We used to run behind the doctors for updates and never did the doctors did a formal way of addressing patient relatives which is really pathetic and very unprofessional.
When I went to talk to the doctor on the very day my father was expired, I was asked to meet tomorrow which never came.
These hospitals showcase only their success and hide their failures as much as possible and play with the lives of people by giving false hopes.
