The publicity of the film says that Naqaab is the most shocking thriller of the year! Believe you me, I am still shocked after watching the film.

Shocked at the fact that reputed directors like Abbas Mustan could make such a film!

The only good thriller director duo in our country probably is Abbas Mustan and going by their track record, they have always made films that are entertaining and edge of the seat thrillers.

Even though some of their work has been "inspired", it still makes for a good watch.

Alas, cannot say the same for their latest Naqaab. I guess after having seen the film themselves, they should have kept in under wraps.

Naqaab is the story of an ambitious director who inspired by reality television and wants to make a film based on the idea.

Only it is way towards the end we realize that this is what was happening.

To the viewer, the film is a story of a rich boy and a poor girl(who insists on working to earn her own pocket money) but when it comes to celebrating with her friends, does it in style!

Bobby Deol as the sissy lover does not appeal at all in the first half of the film.

The casting should have probably been the other way around.

The good thing about the film however is the new discovery - URvashi - she has all that it takes to make it to the top.

The film actually feels like a launchpad for her and nothing much

AKshaye Khanna is his best(as he is in most of his films).

The makers did try to set the mood of the film right from the opening credits which are displayed on a shaky video of Urvashi. but didn't manage to catch the pulse of the audiences.

Probably for the first time, most of the people(it was a full house) walked out in silence without even waiting to take a look at the ng takes.

If it comes down to hit or miss - I think this film has completely missed . and so it is pretty much ok if you choose to miss it too.
