Have you ever been to Liu's aka Nanking right behind the original one on parklane? If you haven't, please don't bother. Situated in a small lane, this place shares the same kitchen with the original and hence the food is pretty good. However, when it comes to the service, Liu's is pathetic. The manager sitting at the counter loves insulting the staff in front of the customers and we've witnessed this a number of times. Our recent visit has finally put the seal on our decision to never visit ANY nanking restaurant! Firstly, the AC was way too less( in winter) and when we asked them pretty politely if the one situated right above the table we've chosen can be turned off since both my husband and I suffer with Sinusitis, the manager replied rudely that if we don't want the AC we need to move to another table. We moved. The one we were finally allotted( the whole restaurant was empty. No customers and I wondered why until now that is) had the central AC blowing in our faces and a fan on the wall right next to that table running at high speed( I wonder if the choice to give us that particular table was deliberate). We decided to adjust(we intended to pay for our meal, no charity being offered here and yet we had to adjust)and sat down. Unfortunately, my 4 yr old boy spilled water and we had to move again to a table that was pointed out to us by one of the few servers. We moved. As soon as we sat the manager started shouting at us that we cannot sit at another table as we already placed the order from the previous table and he has printed an order for the same with the previous table number to be sent into the kitchen. We tried telling him that one of the servers asked us to sit at that table until the previous one was cleaned but he refused to accept it!At this point my usually polite and extremely patient husband got really miffed and asked the manager if he would be happier if we just stood and had our meal. As a response we got a huge lecture on the rules to be followed in'his' restaurant! By then our soup had arrived. So in order to avoid any more embarrassing scenes and also to not give the manager any more chance to abuse us, we silently finished our meal and walked out but not before vowing never to return. So unless you are really hungry for a full course abuse, please do not step into this place.
