It may sound like a VERY BIG and blunt statement to compare Katrina with the unbeatable queen of bollywood Madhuri Dixit, but I can't help and control myself from writing this subject for NL after watching the flick.I wonder why Salman was mad for Aishwariya when he had more prettier choice with himself in form of Katrina Kaif who is 1000 times more beautiful, enigmatic and stunning then the oldy proudy plastic Ash. If it was something like love, then I am sorry that a woman like
Ash can never be trusted as a sincere lover who was so calculative that he dump sallu, vivek's sincere shaadi offer and finally find more secure investment for her unsure future in form of trapping the next victim the bhola bhaala Abhi, and she will be in limelight always as a Bachchan's bahu even after quitting films with fame, money and sound secure future....(alas... we poor and simple guys....) Anyways back to NL... after a long long time I enjoyed a film from start till end and watch it twice that I don't do normally.
NL is an example of the sheer brilliance of director's intelligence to make such a tight, interesting and beautiful movie out of a routine and cliched storyline. The British brat and desi munda concept is nothing new for any viewer, but the execution and presentation made the film a real treat for the eyes. No doubt Vipul Amrutlal Shah is the pride of bollywood and overly hyped Karan Johar should learn a lesson or two from his direction and screenplay.
Back to Katrina... I was unable to move my eyes from this rosy cheeked princess throughout the film. She is so beautiful, so pretty that you enjoy a real feminine beauty on silver screen after marvellous Madhubala and MAdhuri Dixit that fills your eyes with freshness and joy. Her smile, her complexion, her rosy cheeks, her cute mannerism, her cute dialogue deliver *specially when she says in british accent....Oh meri hindustani maa' are extremely lovable ... She has a beauty like 'haath lagao gaey to meli ho jaey gee' kind of...... I disagreed with the viewers who said that she cannot act.
If you can observe her in HKDKG and MPKK she was very different and a bit mature kind of, but in this role she has to act like a spoiled brat looking odd and uncomfortable in hindi accent and culture and she has done her part brilliantly. I am sure she will be an asset to bollywood if she keep improving in a right direction and walk on sensible correct tracks. Akshey Kumar had some shades of a good hearted silly acting man of JaaneMann and over acted a bit in parts but was likeable overall. Rishi Kapoor looked admirable and cute in his funny one liners and sweet but confused dad's role.
The actor from my own country Pakistan 'Javed Sheikh' had a small role but he acted gracefully. I liked him best in an indain film 'Shekhar' released in Dec 2005.(You have to watch classic and unforgettable Pakistani drama serial of 1981 UNKAHI for Javed Sheikh's brilliant performance and you will fell in love with this masterpiece drama which is an example of sheer brilliance). Uppen Patel ... God knows why he has accepted such small role in the earlier stage of his career..... but acted better then 36 CHina Town and looked lesser clumsy this time.Himesh music is criticized unnecessarily.
Don't know why, Indians should be proud that this rock star is promoting India's image throughout the world and is really a very good composer and singer..I do not understand that why there is always a bunch of unnecessary critics for every popular and deserving person. All professionals get repetitive at some stage but it doesn't mean that they should be bashed harshly for that. All songs and music of NL were above average and very good to listen and watch on screen, and holds repeat value also. Cinematography, execution and presentation is extraordinary and is at par excellence.
The film is beautiful to watch I mean you cant move ur eyes from all those beautifully captured angels, shades, sets, outdoors and beautiful colors ...and of course Katrina Kaif :)The one thing that I am a bit unsatisfied of is someway the climax or lets say the last scene, showing Katz with Akshey on motorbike asking for hiding of his english language know how.. mean to say the climax doesn't give you a punch unlike the whole or most of the movie. In short NL is a must watch and an A to Z in entertainment... do watch it with your friends, family, date or spouse and you will have good two plus hours, a light heart and mind and a satisfied smile on your face.
