This Little Bubbly film is a Big Blend of Comedy, Sentiment, Romance served hot with some spicy stunt-shots……
NALA DHAMAYANTHI
= = = = Behind the Screens = = = =
DIRECTOR
Directed by Mouli, most popularly known for his delightful comedy with appropriate sentiments & timely sensations, Nala Dhamayanthi is yet another feather on Mouli’s Cap! He has been significantly successful in bringing out a real innocent Ramji out of our ‘Alaipaayudhe’ Madhavan & has brought out the film with rocking performances by Geethu Mohandas, Anu Haasan & Sreeman …! The Director has played around with a very thin storyline and has come out with a wonderful film …
MUSIC
The musician Ramesh Vinayakam has kicked a goal in his very first game. Not an amplification – the strapping background music adds great charm to many scenes ! While the melodious & romantic ‘Enna Idhu’ song touches our soul, the ‘Stranded in the Street’ brings out our feelings for the poor innocent Madhavan ! Well done Ramesh !!
CINEMATOGRAPHY
Siddharth has made almost every frame pleasant n’ enjoyable ! Hats Off to you boss……..
SCREENPLAY
East or West, Kamal Haasan is the BEST. The Screenplay by Kamal Haasan has been carved so beautifully that instantly it brings out a big roar of laughter during comic scenes - & proves best at emotional times !

To cut short (?) a big story,
The film starts with Chef` Ramji’s (Madhavan) sister’s marriage. Madhavan is unable to meet the financial expectations of his sister’s inlaws & hence decides to accept an offer to work as a Cook in Australia. Unfortunately, on his reaching Australia, he finds that the Indian who had offered him the job had died. Literally on the streets, fuelling the fire, Ramji loses his Passport / Visa and all his belongings. He accidentally saves the life of a CP (Cerebral Palsy) child and hence comes across the child’s parents (Sreeman & Anu Haasan) who are kind enough to accommodate him & offer him a job at their restaurant.
To escape the Australian police as he didn’t have his work permit / Visa, he provisionally marries Dhamayanthi (Geethu Mohandas), who is a Srilankan Tamilian & an Australian resident. While Dhamayanthi’s own lover gets Ramji married to her, gradually she comes to understand her lover’s cunningness and his snubbing his ex-wife and child. Consequently, Dhamayanthi falls in love with the innocent Ramji. Then the series of their preparation for the hearing at the Immigration Office is awesome ! Still, getting very emotional, Ramji blabbers due to his innocence & is being rejected the Visa and forced to go back to his country India. Dhamayanthi herself goes to India to be with her beloved husband & the film concludes with the grand inauguration of their own restaurant in India !!

To praise just the hero or the heroine would be an absolute injustice – almost every character in the film is worth a mention.
Anu Haasan & Sreeman form an ideal couple, rendering a very natural acting. Their spastic child is a major attraction in the movie ! The scenes where Madhavan succeeded in making the child laugh & to make him speak out a few words almost take us to tears. Even on the phone, when this small boy wants some fight-stories from Madhavan, we could feel the Directorial touch ! Geethu’s fiancée (not sure of his name) has also done his role quite well.
Madhavan & Geethu Mohandas have done their roles pretty well. Madhavan has lived as the typical Palaghat Brahmin Ramji and Geethu is an excellent choice for her role in the movie !!
Overall, ‘Nala Dhamayanthi’ is a fantastic comedy film and I am sure, even for serious people, this will be a good Entertainer !!
Cheers !
