Musoorie is considered queen of hill station but easy approach and heavy commercialization is snatching its beauty. My first visit to the place was part of my honeymoon trip in Feb 1996, I was stayed at Dehradun and made a day tour on bike, it was my first driving experience on hills. In the way there is a Picnic spot type place famously known as Musoorie Jheel. I spent hour or more

Dehradun is easily accessible by road and train . Dehradun shatabdi, departs 6.50 Am from Delhi &reached Dehradun around 1 PM.

By road many routes are available main route is merrut –rurki- chutmalpur –dehardoon . but as I am staying In Narela, in north part of Delhi at Sonipat border – I proceeded toward destination from Narela though GT Karnal road till Samalkha from here I took a off route via Bapauli – Sanauli, at Sanauli I met at highway of Panipat- Shamli . At Shamli we turned toward another highway leads to Saharanpur, at Saharanpur I took road to Dehradun

I stayed at Fortune resort at Mussoorie it belongs to welcome group, nicely located on a corner of Mall Road, with magnificent view of valley. Food was part of our package after refreshing with hot water bath we had nice breakfast .

Then we roamed inside the resort & tried to explore minor details of it. after that our carnival moved toward mall road. Effect of “off season “were visible all around. Empty mall road looked like play ground & definitively we enjoyed its soul.

Next day we walked on Camel Back road. It is a beautiful road of musoorie, one side is magnificent view of valley & other side line of green mountains, at the mid of road there is a peak of a mountain which looks like back of camel

Gun point is other beautiful place to visit but with huge commercialization. Central Mussoorie consists of two developed areas: Gandhi Chowk(also called Library Bazaar) at the western end, and the livelier Kulri Bazaar and Picture Palace at the eastern end, linked by the 2km Mall, which is still dominated by pedestrians but has sadly seen a notable increase in vehicle traffic and noise. Beyond Kulri Bazaar a narrow road leads 1.5km to Landour Bazaar.

After lunch we drove to highest point of city, Lal tiba, driving up to here is tad tricky, Ice was visible here & there during way & at the Top. Beautiful iced caps of Shivalic range soothed eyes from a distance. Then we moved to Kampty fall, we had very nostalgic & lovely memories of here, we have biked up to here from Dehradun during our honey moon period. But now it got a big makeover in these 15 years. It became more commercial on the cost of some of naturalist. But still it has worth to come here.

On 3rd day whole group went to Dhanaulty, 30 KM from mussoorie on chamba road. The way was lined up with significant amount of Ice throughout. Ice-capped peaks accompanied us closely. Dhanaulty nests eco-parks, good place for day out. I had stayed once here as a night halt in the way of Gangotri. Handful of hotels including Govt owned resort offers staying option. Govt properties are nicely placed but needs advance booking in season I stayed in private property that was also good. Eco-parks here offer nature walks, swings for kids and eating joints. I had premixed Vodka and cold drink, 7 km from here famous Surkanda Devi temple is situated which crowned peak of a mountain and 2-3 km climbing is required. Panoramic view from here is great.

Kanatal is another destination 7 km from the temple . Club Mahindra books accommodation in a luxurious resort here. This year I booked rooms here and explored the place.

Place enjoys snow- fall in Dec and Jan, and remain cool palace in summer. Area surrounded by various track able forest tracks, these forests are converted in eco-parks for tourists.

Kodia Jungle just in front of resort gate the place, the forest is a very nice picnic spot. A leveled 8 Km track will take you through dense forests which open up to a vast expanse of undulating hills and valleys. Tiny, gurgling natural springs also come along the way, and if you are lucky you could spot a few wild animals.

.

I also drove 16 km for sod village in a valley, to watch village life. A society has made a resort here too named DU-North resort for people who want different type of rural vacation and want to feel soul of village life.

Apart from above there are many camping sites in the area who loves tenting accommodation.

The Kanatal resort here is one of the luxurious resort, which run by some private people and now overtaken by Club Mahindra . Nicely maintained resort, having gym, spa, some adventurous games for kids, they helps in trekking in jungle too., lift is there I stayed in hotel unit of ground floor it it don’t offers good view, rooms at higher floor are better .

There is heated swimming pool in resort but this time it was not working, further it is not opened for all guest. Before Club Mahindra it was great attraction of resort, even in snow fall guest used to enjoy heated indoor pool that time
