July was so hot here in chennai and we just want a break from this place.I usually will have two vacations a year with my family....One on a car, which will be comparitively a short distance trip and another a long one....We planned to visit a hill station to cool ourselves from the hot chennai weather. We all gathered(My whole family which consist of seven members) and we finally decided to visit munnar. We heared we have to climb up the hills and have to face lot of challenges on the road.So we decided its time to test the Safari over the demanding conditions(which we latter had a disappointing results u can check out in my revu abt safari)We packed 2 big suitcases and we planned to leave chennai by 6 in the morning.I woke up in the early hours of wednesday, charging my mp3 player, mobile and also tooks their chargers and loaded all my junks into the car.We finally started at 9.00 in the morning, which is 3 hours late than our scheduled time.We know it was late but we thought we can catch up, but in vain.We reached trichy by 3 and had our lunch there. After having a relatively long break of 1 1/2 hours, we planned to stay somewhere near to madurai and climb up the hills tomorrow morning. We reached dindigul which is near madurai at 9.00 and stayed there in a hotel. We had our dinner and had a very good nights sleep, after a 12 long hours of journey. The next morning it was raining and it was heavy enough to cover up the luggages over the car.We started at 9.00 after the breakfast. We went to the kerala border via theni and the hill climb started to get tougher and tougher, as the roads became very narrow. The car was disappointing with longer turning radius and the loss of power due to the power steering added to its woe.The worst situtation we faced is a strecth of road of abt 10 km where only one vehicle can go at a time. They have built a kinda parking bridges once every 200 meters. So if vehicles comes face to face one has to go back and park his/her vehicle in that ramp and let the other vehicle to pass. The altitude was so high and it was really scary. But the rest of the route was quite safe and the roads are ok.
We finally reached our resort at 4.00 which we booked earlier and had our lunch. It was quite an amazing climb upto this place. We had lotsa small water falls and great scenaries and lotsa valleys with coffee and tea plantations(which we later found out almost 80% of them belongs to TATA) The place is quite calm and absolutely pollution free.As the whole hill is filled with TATAs plantations all the buildings are looking alike.Hats off to TATA wokers they are maintainig this wonderful hill very well.Almost all the schools and hospitals belongs to TATA.The next day we went to the famous Dam which was so huge....and also went to a place called echo valley which echoes very realistically! Then we went to see some rare sheep varieties. It may sound so simple and boring but believe me the places are quite greeny and pleasing to eyes.
The second day was quite exciting, we went to a waterfalls and had some fun there and we visited a TATAs tea processing factory.Getting permission to visit one of these factories is kinda tough, but its worthy. The day ended with a wondeful dinner at a local dhaba. We had excellent road side food. Its a worthy try but rather risky!but luckily the food was fine!
I was so tired after travelling for three continuous days.So I stayed in the resort and had a very relaxing day.It was fun spending the day watching those wonderful valleys! We took a different route while returning to have more fun.We reached chennai in the early hours of monday. Its really a great and wonderful place to be!Moreover this is the best possible thrilling ride one can get!
