I have been using MBlaze 3G+ WIFI for the past 18 months. The plan I have chosen is post paid 10 GB high speed data for Rs 675 after discount. Post 10 GB HSD, speed is reduced to a measly 34 kbps unlimited usage. I had been using Reliance Netconnect prior to this. I had also used Tata Photon+ as well before. From my personal experience, out of the 3 ISPs MTS has so far has given better services(this is about the internet service only).
The service is very good considering the fact that my current house is in a sub urban area and the nearest MTS tower is approximately 3 kms away. I have never, not even once got the claimed 9.8 Mbps(Megabits per second) speed. I have had an average download speed of 350 KBps(Kilobytes per second) when using torrent(speed observed early in the morning). Speeds are quite high even during peak hours. With Reliance, there used to be a drastic reduction in speed during peak hours.
MTS customer service is similar to other companies. Long wait time when calling a call centre, emails never getting responded to or response received after their TAT of 24 hours, rude or ill-informed customer service reps etc. This is typical to all companies customer services be it a call centre, back end support, car/motorcycle service centre. Companies want to sell, sell and sell. But when it comes to after sales support, its always'the customer's fault' mind set or approach.
After my 1 year discount period, MTS started charging me for the whole amount of Rs 875. The total bill was at a whopping Rs 1002. I contacted customer service and their response was to choose a cheaper plan or cancel the connection. Eventually, I went to a local MTS store and they put in a request for discount extension. Now, the discount has been reinstated.
The connection tends to shut off if you are not browsing or downloading something for a longer period e.g. for 30 minutes. You might need to switch off and switch on the dongle when this happens. There are occassional connectivity issues. But then it happens once in a while only e.g. once or twice a month.
Overall I am satisfied with the speed and reliability of MTS MBlaze 3G+.
But MTS needs to improve their coverage. HSD is mainly concentrated in urban areas. Rural areas are neglected.
Be it any ISP, get them to your house and test the speed and coverage on your personal desk top/lap top/tab before buying the dongle and plan. This is a free test service. Else you will be wasting your hard earned money.
