Since its launch, Mozilla Firefox is my favorite web browser. There are numerous browser available in the market and they are free. Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Apple Safari, Opera and many more are there, but for me, Firefox stands out on its own. Since its inception, it has undergone many iterations and gradually become better and better. So, why I like it most? I will tell you what I feel in my own words with a 10 point performance scale.
Look & Feel: Firefox is pretty much straight forward. It has a simple but elegant look. Tabs are at the top with a+ sign to add more. A URL bar and Search bar and are there side by side under it. Also Home, Bookmark, Starred Pages button etc are in the upper right corner. Option, Print, History, Full Screen Add Ons, Find, Cut-Copy-Paste etc. are hidden under a single button. Nothing more is there. It looks very neat and u will get much screen space to view the content. U can customize the appearence of Firefox window and there u can change many things. U can also change color scheme. Whenever u download anything through browser, a downward arrow comes with a progress bar. U can easily expand it to see the actual progress of the ongoing download. (9.5/10)
Functionality:
(i) Page loading time is significantly low if u compare with IE from Microsoft, though it is not faster than Chrome. But anyway, there is no issue here.
(ii) Saving a webpage is easy as well as saving any image.
(iii) U can easily bookmark a website with suitable names. Most impressive is, u can have starred pages just by clicking the star button and they are stored in Unsorted Bookmarks in the Bookmarks toolbar. These bookmarks are also organized chronologically. This is a very handy feature.
(iv) In options, u can set ur preferred home page and set your desired preferred download location or u can set it to ask u every time where to download the contents.
(v) There are a large number of Add Ons and Plug Ins available for Firefox in the web. Not all of them are useful though, but many of them function really well. In add ons tab in options, u can see the add ons and can update, activate, deactivate them.
(vi) One interesting thing regarding zooming the view is that, u can easily zoom in or zoom out the view by press & hold the Ctrl key and scrolling the mouse upwards or downwards.
(vii) Firefox also has some security features like Pop up blocker, Site Advisor etc which works pretty well though many of them are not in built, but they can be downloaded as add ons.
(viii) U can also increase or decrease the view from the settings. Management of various files as attachment of mail is also praiseworthy.
(ix) It gives a pop up whenever u want to close multiple open tabs in a single click so as to avoid closure of any important download or web page.
(x) Last but not the least, the Tab management in Firefox is noteworthy. Apart from opening tabs by clicking the plus sign, u can simply right click on a hyperlink and open a new tab with the contents of that particular link. (9.5/10)
Reliability: It slightly suffers in this department as I have confronted few crashes while browsing. But this is not any regular affair, rather it is rare. Also we have to keep in mind that a browser crash is not only the sole fault of the browser itself, it can happen due to some internal problem of pc too. (7/10)
Firefox gives commendable performance. It offers some good features and most of them work well. Google Chrome is also an excellent browser, but If we consider features and performance both, then I think Firefox is superior to any other web browser in the market.
pls rate and make your valuable comments if u find the review useful(if not, then also).
