6 Reason why you shouldn't buy MOTO G
Please Note: This is not a preview, but a review itself. It might be so early to write this review, but with regards to certain limitation of phone which are unavoidable, I made my mind to write it so early. This will be informative only if you read with open mind and read the entire review. I am sure there will be many NU rating coming there, but I am a writer and not afraid of any of these. You have got a beautiful room. The interior decoration is well-furnished and they are tempting as if you want to be in this room for entire lifetime. You have every facilities in this room itself. At a glance anyone can have first sight love with this place. One fine day, you want to invite group of your friends to share this happiness just to realize the space is too less for people more than you. There are some alternatives which can provide you option but they come with limitation. You might be regretting about the space you have. You might wish to have larger.
Today's smart phone has almost every applications that we need in our virtual world. In one way they have changed the meaning of phone. Especially, arrival of Android as mobile operating system has brought the massive change in our device where Nokia 6600 was a matter of pride in once moment of time. In this race of competition, many mobile companies provide one or other good option, but in this competence, they lag in one or other phase which affects the overall performance of phone.
Motorala which had suffered a heavy loss in Indian Market is back to India with their Latest Model MOTO G which was available on flipkart since 6th Feb 2014. They had very good promo and with regard to that, flipkart had very good response in midnight. Phone was out of stock within half an hour but they resumed it in mid day. We were tempted to see its configuration. So, I, along with my friend had ordered a phone. He ordered a phone in one day standard delivery while I opted for normal delivery. After getting a phone for him, we realized it had many short comings. There are many good reasons behind buying the phone at 12499(8 GB) or 13999( 16 GB), but Let me tell you, why you shouldn't buy it and you can give your own conclusion after reading this review.
1) Cheaper Accessories.
When its about smart phone, it is about music too. So what you want is good accessories to listen the music and watch videos. No doubt, watching HD videos is amazing. The sound without headphone is good, but you can't ignore headphone. It is of very bad quality, cheaper and it doesn't suit the level of phone. You need to spend some 500 bucks to buy another good headphone
2) Poor Charger and Longer time
It is same about the charger. Though phone battery is of 2070 mAh, its charger is very poor. The charger is not upto the level for 2070 mAh battery and takes more than 3 hours for full charge. As phone gets older, it may get longer time to charge.
3) Non-replaceable battery
One of the major problems in today's smart phone is Battery. The case of Android phones are more horrible. You may need to charge it twice or thrice in a day. Though Moto G talks about whole day battery, one of the major problem is its irreplaceable battery. This means you need to change a phone once your battery is a problem for you. Take this point very seriously. A Normal battery has a good life upto 500 recharge cycle. Provided if you need to charge only once for first six months, and then you need to charge phone thrice in every two days for another six months, your 450 recharge cycle will be over. This means you will hardly have maximum fifteen months of usage. Shorter life span for the amount of 12.5 thousand. Isn't it? Think again!
4) 5 MP primary camera!
In the price of 12.5 thousand, many mobile phone has higher resolution of camera. 5 MP camera is insufficient. More ever, camera quality is not so good, its average. Though it has LED flash, It fails to perform to its expectation during night time. It has 1.3 mp of secondary camera but primary camera matters first. So, if you are looking for good camera, this phone is not for you.
5) Eight GB Internal Memory!
Phone has 1 GB RAM and 8 GB internal memory. This looks attracting, isn't it? Even it was attracting to us. But we were not aware about its non-existing expandable memory. So, this is the biggest loop hole for the phone. With pure Android software available in your phone, the remaining space is merely 3 GB. One GB might be taken by application that we want to install giving less space for music. If you want to watch videos during journey, you might be needing more time to decide which one to keep and which not to! Space of 2 GB is too less for a phone which has so wide range of function. Looking at phone price which will be huge amount for average customers, you can't afford to buy this. Storing photos and your favorite music may be tougher time. There are 16 GB phone which gives you 12 GB of spaces, but again, this space will be small for many user.
Let me tell you again, whenever you need to update your device with newer version of Software, or if you need to re-install your OS, you will have difficult time with such a less space and no memory card slot available. There are option to browse files through pen drive but this doesn't look good and may sound weird when you watch videos in journey with your pen drive attached. A small slot for memory card would have made difference.
6) No data cable!
With just 2 GB free space, you may be needing to transfer videos and movies frequently. With no memory card slot, you might need to frequently transfer your data. But No data cable here. Transferring through Bluetooth isn't convincing enough. So to buy an original data-cable from Motorala, you may need to spend another 500 bucks from your pocket.
Service Center*
It can always happen that phone get defective within one year of time. So lack of service center by Motorola can give you another nightmare. You may need to travel more for service center and you may need to longer time to get back your product. Think about it at your own risk
My conclusion
Though phone has good processor, 1 GB RAM, it has scratch resistant glass, latest pure form of android and 50 GB of free Cloud storage, but it lack on certain features which are unavoidable. The absence of expandable memory and poor accessories are its greatest back draw. Flipkart promoted it very well with few offers without mentioning about inbox accessories and hiding few things, but the high run is for shorter period and phone sell will go down once many reviews start coming. Where most of the internet surfing is on 2G network, Indian market beyond metros is not yet ready to accept cloud storage because of high-price 3G data. More ever, you may need to add extra one thousand bucks for data cable, charger and good quality headphone. It is dual sim and has so many functions but however good be its configuration and stability, phone fails in mainland and my recommendation is a strict No.
It is a good phone but not worth of 12.5 thousand if you are average customer who wants the phone minimum for two years. Not value of money.
After realizing all this, I returned back the flipkart delivery boy. My wait for first smart phone is set to be longer while my friend is regretting the buy. I know, it is too early to write its review, but when there are its backdrops which can't be fixed, it is always going to give you problem.
