I work as a networking administrator on windows environment with windows 2000 server and many windows 2000 professional systems.
Let me give you individual features of win2k server and win2k professional then will talk about the combination.
Win2k server:
1.Windows 2000 server is very user friendly and easy to use once you get the buzz of it it’s in your fingers.
2.Installing hardware and software is made easy through device manager and add remove programs.
- Installing , uninstalling windows components is also hassle free.
4.Administrative tools handles all the network management tools and also monitoring .
5.The component services gives you the choice of running, pausing, restarting, stopping different services(applications can be made as services).
6.Remote installation is very helpful in installing softwares on to client systems.
7.Routing and Remote control makes you powerful with choices like VPN(Virtual Private Networking) , remote access, direct connection , tunneling etc.
8.Security policies have enhanced with kerberos, chap, etc.
and the list goes on but let me stop here and explain a few features of 2000 professional.
Win2k professional:
1.This is just a client version of win 2k server I mean it is very compatible with the windows 2000 server.
2.It has the same features like administrative tools , component services etc.
3.connections with peripherals, accessories is just an easy task.
- Dns,dhcp etc configurations are cool.
Let’s talk about the combination, it is just tooooo koooooool.
They are like moulded together the windows 2000 professional system will have no problems when connection on to a domain with windows 2000 server.There are so many features which works beautiful with this combination like Roaming profiles,monitoring network traffic, sharing folders ,network browsing etc..
The online documentations are a boon to the product.
A well thought plan for network by the no R&D Microsoft ……….
