Mayajaal multiplex boasts of housing 16 screens along with shopping mall and play arena. Wow, that sounds exaggerating. It is said to be among the oldest and the largest multiplex in Asia. I visited the place earlier this year to watch a movie -'Roy'
The multiplex is located on ECR road in Tamil Nadu and is within 20 km of distance from Sholinganalur area(the IT village). It is very close to the MGM beach resort. You can take an auto from Sholinganallur signal or a bus from ECR link road.
The entire place is usually very crowded as there is hardly any other hang out station nearby. Although they boast of a 16-screen multiplex, hardly 7 is functional concurrently. It is an old fashioned cinema hall, if that can be said. The screen size is very small. Picture and sound quality is poor. The seating arrangement is pathetic. Very congested set up with minimum leg room.
The floor is flat and not inclined as modern day multiplexes. You have trouble viewing the screen if the person in front of you is relatively taller. Outside the theatre, there is a cafeteria with lot of food joints and fast food centres. However, the price seems to touch the sky and you need to put a hole in your pocket in order to fill your tummy. The washroom is equally repulsive. No hygiene mechanism and it continuously bears foul smell.
I will definitely not recommend anyone to go to this place.
