A very poor experience overall.
A good team of doctors - which is absolutely let down at the administrative and management end.
My wife and I were admitted here with COVID. A room was allotted, but we were asked to wait as the treating doctors wanted to get a CT scan of the chest down for both of us before shifting to the room. It is logistically complex to move COVID patients around they said, and we agreed. we waited for around 3 hours - which was okay, considering all things.
However, once the CT was finally done and reviewed, we were transferred to the erstwhile assigned room, only to find, the same room had been assigned to someone else now! There was another patient in the room we were officially admitted in, and this guy obviously refused to move to another room. And we were told there were no other rooms available. So, after all the admission formalities were completed and the room assigned, and after waiting for 3 hours, we were plainly denied a room. The bill at this point was roughly 80-90k for both of us, and no insurance would cover it if the admission wasn't for 24 hours.
This whole thing went on roughly for an hour and a half.
If it had ended here, it would have been still fine. But my wife and I were woken up at midnight by the staff. And we were taken for a CT son again! The same scan we had waited 3 hours for. Both of us tried to explain to them that we had already had the CT of the chest done, but this staffer said maybe the doctor wants another scan. maybe the first scan was not good quality. and a few more rubbish excuses. I also tried to reason with them to postpone it to morning if it was not an urgency, upon which we were just SCOLDED by this guy and were asked to shut up!
I am 63. My wife is 57.
The next morning, we asked the doctor about this second scan. And he was as surprised as we were. He had NEVER asked for this repeat scan. Moreover, the morning staff had NO IDEA even if a CT scan was done at all.
After raising this issue, someone called and apologized. Now the extra dose of radiation could not be taken back, but at least we were assured we won't be charged for the second scan. But we were. The charge was only removed upon repeated reminders.
Again, I wouldn't have been writing this review if this had been it. T couple of days later, WE WERE AGAIN WOKEN UP AT AROUND 1 AM - AGAIN FOR A GOD-FORBIDDEN CT SCAN! This time, however, we just refused to get going and asked to call the doctor and confirm first. So, a third CT was not done.
Now, at the time of discharge and billing, I ended up paying around 35000 due to some error at the hospital's end. This included the gruesome and exorbitant charges what max charged for those PPEs! And it was obviously denied by the insurance company. I was asked to claim a reimbursement for the rest from my insurance provider - which would take at least a few months, if not more.
I honestly have no issue in paying for what's rightful. And I will not go into the exorbitant and illogical charges Max adds to the bill. At least provide the service that on par with the money you ask for! If your room costs more than what hotels like Radisson or Leela or Pullman charge, at least teach your staff to be courteous and knowledgeable. And for the last thing, please teach the staff to listen to what the patient says - for it's the patients that paying for your salaries eventually.
Doctors - 5 stars.
Nursing care - 3.5 stars(partly responsible for the CT fiasco)
Management - A BIG THUMBS DOWN!
Overall experience - POOR.
