Hi.. the wagon R is a very practical buy for people looking at a small family car. The space is unbeatable that is if you can stand the looks. From breadbox on wheels to downright ugly is the verdict, but then space does come with a price. The mechanicals of the Wagon R is basically a 1062 cc 4 cylinder engine, which is basically a maruti 800cc 3 cylinder engine with another cylinder added on to give the higher total capacity, and about 62 bhp of peak power.
Alright, advantage of this engine is that it can be repaired or fixed easilly as a lot of things are common with the 800 engine, but then the downside is that this engine is also as rough as the engine of the 800 when revved high.
The gearing is great. Pulls the car to a good top end. Handling does suffer a little due to the tall designing so don't look at throwing it around in corners like the zen.
The interiors are of decent quality, with lots of cubby holes and spaces to store stuff. Especially the front seats which recline to become airplane like are a bonus, with loads of space all around. The AC is pretty good but makes a lot of noise when it is set on maximum.
The ride quality is pretty good for the car, and if you are looking at the LXi version, the added power steering or Electronic power steering helps a lot. It makes the car a lot of fun to drive.
