Test drive review :Please Use Your Head (not Heart)It is pathetic that, this reviewer (Amit MK) has been suspected by many as a Hyundai hand. I do not think he is... especially after test driving Swift first & Getz next. I owned an 800.. upgraded to Zen Lx & been quite loyal to Suzuki & still love both my cars for their reliability. Swift has amazingly sporty looks. The body is indeed strong. However,once inside the plastic really glares back at you. Rear leg room is not better than Zen & the third person in the rear (who would sit in the middle) would have no other place but the others’ legroom to plant his feet on due to protruding ridge in the middle. GetZ the case is very different with a lower protrusion. A 2 km test drive on Swift & Getz could indicate me that 1. Lot of the people are getting carried away by the Suzuki factor not swift’s performance. 2. Swift pricing is aggressive & attractive 3. GetZ is indeed a good package to look at and a shade better than Swift in terms of everything except real suspension (from the single car I drove) I had been to Hyundai factory at Ulsan, South Korea & got quite impressed. They claim they are currently No 7 in the world & Striving to Become No5 or better in the years to come whereas Suzuki is not. Somewhere I read, that In US, Hyundai bags safety awards year on year. Even the No 7 position in the world can not happen without mettle. If you would start rating cars by their country of origin, only heart will rule. Not your head. Hence I request all... Next time please review / comment Unbiased. Use facts not feelings Market news review: A Shameful Act: posted on 09/06/2005 After a Thorough analysis on cars priced (Ex show room) between Rs 4 lac to 5 lac . I considered Esteem & Swift (being the cheapest now after Xing price cut; No thanks to Indicas, Palios & Xings); I had reservations on the resale value of Esteem in the years to come & my wife felt that the car cramps one with the low seating posture & swift has a better seating. She went go ga ga over Swift though her Initial response to the print & TV ads of Swift weren't positive. Suddenly MUL announces a hike in price & dealers are yet to get the table of the revised figures & guess about 8000 to 12000. What is this? rational act? What character MUL is made of? If MUL is testing the price instead of product? Fooling the average indian with a shameless act, MUL is doing a cold blooded injustice. The proper way should have been, announcing on the Launch date a Special price offer for first 10 days of booking or first 15000 bookings or some other rational promo. What MUL would do if there were no bookings? Will it reduce the prices? They should have done this when the swifts have started burning the asphalt, probably in 3 months time. An organisation like MUL should stop acting like a greedy opportunistic wolf. MUL Roll back to prove that you are still ethical....

:: I BOOKED IT: posted on 12/06/2005 ::Yesterday I booked it after a careful consideration on the market dynamics & pricing. The pity is Hyundai is still holding the prices of Getz. With the current pricing I can't go for it ( Not an affordability question; but a Value for money consideration). Heard MuL is still not releasing the revised price table to dealers. I dont know how much I have to pay in addition to 409000. But I will pay it with grumble & grudge only..... Please watch out for my ownership review...

:: I Bought IT & Owning IT (23rd June 05) ::Will anyone believe that I owned a Swift in matter of five days. Yes man I did it. On17th June I got a Swift & I have driven it 382 kms as on date. How? Luck favored me. One of my friends' Friend booked it on first week of June & last minute thought he would go for an Alto to save money & I grabbed the opportunity. He didn't even charge me the interest on the advance he paid; Great person! (Thiruvenkatam Thank you. You are a Philanthropist man) After 350+ kms & great road presence I would rate this car as an amazingly good car at the price of Indica which is not a comparably good vehicle. I have driven Ikon flair & the road / engine noise of Ikon was horrible. Swift has excellent comfort qualities of a premium luxury car. The flip side still is the dark interior & hard & rough plastic. Maruti Zen sports a spongy feel interior & Swift could have had the same thing. Otherwise it is great man. Dont dare to compare IKON, GETZ, INDICA/INDIGO. This is a better car

:: 4937kms (13th Nov 05) ::HI all. The vehicle is still proving its capability on fuel efficiency filling after filling. The ride quality is amazing. What I dont like is the interior as I have been crying since beginning. there are couple of squeaks here & there. Well see you guys for now.

::12621 kms (11th Nov 05):: Hi all . My Swift has completed a 12000 km and I am meeting you all almost an year after. The Vehicle is still doing great. The fuel efficiency is consistent at 12-13 kmpl in city & a trip to my native has returned 15.7 kmpl. The car has few issues also. The Horn got worked up & got replaced under warranty. The power window esp the driver's, gets sometimes moody & stuck up.To make it work I may have to turn off the ignition and turn on once or twice. The dealer is still breaking his head on this. I am also mad about it as it gets me wet. Whatever few flip points the car rocks. Maruti dealers are really driven hard by MUL. It is apparent at the frenzied follow up activity. Hats off MUL. I will see you all again

::37476 kms (30th Sep 09):: 4 years and 4 months 8 days completed with my swift and it is my dear dear super performance car at an average fuel efficiency of 13.2 to 14.9kmpl (using full tank to full tank trip monitoring) in city traffic60%+ outskirts40% and almost 30 minutes of crawling everyday. This car is AMAZING. This Sunday I devoured 323 kms in just 3hrs 20 mins on the NH45. doing 120kmph consistently with no break except for 4 toll gate stops. Usually I take about 5 to 6 hours. I replaced the 165/80 R14 tyres with up size 185/70 R14 Goodyear filled with Nitrogen. I have experienced very good handling. Rattling is a perennial problem reserved for poor roads. occasional power window snarls. Horn is not dependable, Replaced 3 horns so far. they do not last more than 3 months and then work when they feel like. I tried soldering the wire with the horn terminals. It does not work either. All this petty issues pardoned.
