We bought a Azure Grey Swift VXi 10 days ago .
We bought it from Sai Service Vasai.
Maruti Swift VXi
Rs. 4,71,149
Hatchback Type, Compact Car,
5-Seater, 1298 CC, 5 Speed (MT*),
Mileage - 13 km/Liter (Petrol)
It has run around 750 km, giving average (overall) of 13.9 pl of petrol(with AC).
So I guess much higher mileage without A.C.on highway is easily possible.
Very happy for having made the best selection of my life. Readers don`t
believe the lies about poor average. On the road today it is probably the car
with the best average! Any way at that price what do you expect anyway? I am
surprised that so many swift`s are not seen on the road.
On our way to Pune and back on the highway only Two cars successfully
defeated us in races
1) Skoda Octavia Rider 1.8 Turbo
Rs. 11,36,026
Sedan Type, Luxury Car,
5-Seater, 1781 CC, 5 Speed (MT*),
Mileage - 8.9 km/Liter (Petrol)
2) Skoda Laura 1.9 PD
Rs. 16,39,333
Sedan Type, Luxury Car,
5-Seater, 1896 CC, 5 Speed (MT*),
Mileage - 12.8 km/Liter (Diesel)
and once by
3) Mitsubishi Lancer Cedia Elegance
Rs. 10,40,000
Sedan Type, Luxury Car,
5-Seater, 1999 CC, 5 Speed (MT*),
Mileage - 11.2 km/Liter (Petrol)
Notice the price tags?huh?
I slept on the Mumbai Pune Express highway in the front seat when
the driver was driving at 120 kmph! Never done that before!!!!
Nowadays I get 14.9 per km without ac on highway.
the second service is due and I expect the average
to improve marginally.
Go buy a swift! don`t spend time reading other people`s reviews
when you can write your own!!!!!!!!
Sanjay
P.S. You have to pay for your (so called) free service. Rs.1700/- to be exact!
So carry enough cash because the appointment booking secretary
told me I won't be charged a farthing! That's why!
It's an old Sai Service trick to promise mud flaps and mats as a freebie but never give it. All Sai Service customers will agree with me
ONE YEAR COMPLETION REVIEW:
One year complete and a review is necessary! 17,336 kms covered across Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kutch, and Rajasthan
Sai Service Guys do keep on giving you calls asking you fro performance! So so far so good! But their various branches do not have interlinks with each other. As a result all different branches you have visited with car problems will give you separate call for reminding the same thing! You do have to argue a lot with their service people, they want to sell you unnecessary stuff.
We found that the petrol tank is not 43 liters as is stated but rather 45 liters! Giving more that promised.
You don't feel tired on long drives.
Maruti should have included a clock, speakers, inside lights could
have been made in the center. Storage space should have been more
thought out about (see Honda city has enough storage to carry two extra
people in the boot!)
The glove compartment is an odd location. The lights are Powerful for the car and highly recognizable.
On the highways everyone knows that the Swift drivers are fast and in a hurry, the truck drivers let you 'pass' quickly!
It seems that mileage is dependent on
1) right gears at the right speed. (but if you want to 'defeat' all other cars on the highway you are likely to drive one gear lower than is recommended, thus lowering your mileage per lit of petrol).
2) Number of occupants and baggage
3) At high speeds drive with windows closed and AC on you might get higher average.
4) Avoid speeding and braking (but I wonder if you would ever get anywhere that way!)
5) Quality of roads.(pot holes, speed breakers, Ghats, curvatures etc)
6)Traffic (Discipline & Jams)
7) AC on or off at the right time.
So eventually you end up getting an average of 13.8 - 14.6 Km/liter most of the time though theoretically higher average is possible.
Hey Guys n gals give up this mileage obsession. other points like comfort etc. are also important!
Enjoy your ride!
