Things I like most in Baleno:
- Fantastic engine! Take the car to a highway where
there is less traffic and zoom to have what it feels
to be like a rally race driver. Due to higher power
to weight ratio amongst many midsize cars - Baleno is
good for spirited drive.
AC is nice and cools very fast but has a noisy blower.
Being one of the premium cars among the MUL stable -
Baleno gets a priority treatment and MUL's excellent
service network makes sure that the car's long term life
is taken care
- Price. The Lxi Model provides the most value for
money. It has everything a daily commuter car needs
to have. The recent price reduction to 5 lakhs bracket
makes this car as top contender in VFM proposition.
- Mileage. Decent enough to exceed many B segment cars!
city driving condition at 11 KMPL! with AC is great for the
pocket. My colleagues who own this car seems to be
happy about their decision especially on this and the engine factor.
- Front seats are good with height adjustable mechanism.
What I don’t like about Baleno:
a. Dated looks. Literally no change in the exterior or interior.
Spruce up the interior by using leather seats and attaching a
rear spoiler, alloy wheel and wider tyres. Soon that
dated looks are forgotten.
b. Very sober interiors and color scheme is depressing.
c. Poor quality dashboard and plastic feeling all over the
place render this car interior to be rated as lousy.
d. On high speed drive, when you dodge a curve - you need
to be careful about the understeer of the car due its
skinny tyres. Better upgrade the tyre to tubeless wider tyres.
Wider tyres drop the fuel efficiency - but then provide
much better traction on road and hence ride & handling of the car
e. Getting in to and out of this car is a bit troublesome - especially for the
tall ones.
Points to be noted:
a. There is a new version Baleno being released by end of 2005 or
early 2006.
b. Watch out for spares - some simple items like fog lamps were really expensive.
