Mangalore is my new home from February this year since my transfer here. It's a coastal port city on northern tip of Karnataka which is scenic clean beautiful and developed. And I have come to fall in love with it.
It developed as a port city for Mysore and as such there is a mix of culture here. This is specifically evident in the cuisine, which is really good varied and different. There are lot of restaurants here that caters to different appetite. And for those people look to shop and dine out, this is one of the best places. Almost everything is available, there are two big malls, City centre and forum fiza, Couple of medium sized ones, mischief mall and Bharat mall and host of smaller ones, a number of other shopping options. Eating out is also a pleasure, as I mentioned before there are number of choices.
The ones to look out for are pabbas and ideal ice cream parlors , ocean pearl hotel, which has three restaurants, pind ,
Definitely try seafood from mangalore.
Apart from these there are two good beaches panambur and tannirbavi, Surathkal beach and lighthouse ks also just 20-25 minutes drive from city.
Also it's a good place for spiritual tour, theres managaldevi temple, more than thousand years old, and from where the name mangalore came into being. Kadri manjunatha, an old Siva temple, and number of others. Also for Christian faith, there's Milagres church and many more churches. Mangalore also has good Muslim population. Its truly diverse.
The biggest plus points of the city are its cleanliness, education and modern health facilities and almost non existent travel blocks. The city had good transportation facilities and connectivity with outside is also good. There is an international airport and rail connectivity. Nh 66 from Kerala to mumbai via Goa also passes through heart of city.
That's it for now. I'll try keep updating.
