This book by Eric Segal (one of my favourite authors) speaks of a huge sacrifice made by a woman. Man, Woman and Child touches upon the right emotions. The author brings out the characters into life-like forms.
The story portrays a very difficult situation brought about on a family but a mistake in the past. An affair in the past and the death of the single mother, brings a young boy to live with his ''new'' family. How does everyone adjust?
The book takes us on a journey through this situation as the family faces it and how it adjusts to it. Eric Segal goes on to describe the frustrations felt by each member of the family, and how they overcome the problem.
All in all, it's a very touching story which brings out a host of emotions in its readers (No wonder its been adapted into a number of movies. Man, Woman and Child in English, and Masoom in Hindi). A great story about the forgiving capability of a woman to keep her family together at any costs.
I thoroughly enjoyed each page and by the end felt like an integral part of the story.
