Story:

This is an exquisite collection of about 9 short stories by R.K. Narayan. Each of the stories is set in the fictional town of Malgudi in South India. My personal favourite is'the missing mail' - a story about a postman, who does not deliver a letter informing of an unfortunate death, since there is an impending wedding at the house.

The stories are about that little stroke of judgement, a sudden turn of fate and that undaunted hope. The writing style is easy, Indians would be happy to read. And the emotions are not described, the author writes only of the situation and turn of events. The story evokes the questions and emotions in the reader. A very good book, R.K. Narayan is a master storyteller.
