The imagination of an individual mind sometimes initiate by an idea and converting that idea into reality on screen is a sheer challenge and here is the live example of a person who not only challenge his own thought but win over it so elegantly that only few can do it, Please Welcome S.S . Rajamouli , to the Hindi Cinema(thou  thru dubbed version) who has pulled the Indian cinema one level Up.

Makkhi [Eega in Telugu] is a story of an selfless love between two innocent people who have never expressed their love with words, thou one day the moment came when Jani (Naveen Babu) expressed his love for Bindu(Samantha) but to his misfortune he was allegedly kidnapped and murdered by Sudeep (Sudeep) a billionaire who used to be womaniser  and had a love interest in Bindu. It’s a belief that a soul unsatised will reborn again to complete its dues and hence Jani reborn as a Housefly (Makkhi). But you might have one question why a housefly not a powerful spirit or ghost? Why not a dangerous animal or a powerful bird? Why a fly who cannot sting nor bite and who is physically weak? The beauty of the answer lies in the Idea by V. Vijayendra Prasad on which Makkhi [Eega] is based and the resultant of that is one of the best script, screenplay and direction.

The Idea of lead protagonist as a housefly lies in the innocence of the Jani and his love for Bindu and also the challenge for taking revenge from its murderer without having any super natural powers. S. S. Rajamouli has justified the idea through an excellent story, editing and screenplay. Kudos to the team! For e.g. a fly can irritate any normal human being by flying and humming around your ear & nose again and again; and the frequency of its action can even make you go insane. This simple fact has been beautifully implemented in the story for taking revenge from the villain of the movie which is totally believable. Thou inclusion of a tantrik in the later half could have been removed thou it adds only to the pace of the story especially the evil bird chase to hunt Makkhi was enthralling.

Regarding performances, Sudeep thou the villain of the movie ,but is supremely good as a billionaire and womanizer and since Jani had a limited role he had the full opportunity to showcase himself, which  he has done with grace.  Samantha as Bindu looks beautiful, innocent and justified the role of a micro artist and a true companion for Makkhi [Eega]. Jani in his limited role successfully made his presence felt especially in a scene where he made an artificial light with the help of silver sheet, dish anteena and torch for Bindu when the colony lights went off. Now, the Hero of the Movie Makhhi [Eega], he is outstanding in every terms and kudos to the animation, VFX and special effects team. Now stop crying for Hollywood for God Sake, at least appreciates what good we have.

Background score and music of the movie (M.M.Keeravani) is noticeable and cinematography (K. K. Senthil Kumar) is superb.

There are few scenes worth mentioning

1) Creating an artificial light by Jani for Bindu

2) Rebirth of Jani as Makkhi and the way it explored  the new world and learnt how to fly

3) Struggle of Makkhi to escape from a tea cup

4) Attack by Makkhi while Sudeep was having sauna Bath and in another scene where he was driving a car to reach airport

5) Makkhi’s act of making Bindu realized that he is alive and reborn as housefly

6) The scene where thousands glass pieces were approaching towards Sudeep Face and the Makkhi reflection in all of them actually made felt the power of the Makkhi to Sudeep and everyone in the theatre

7) The climax of course or say last 15 mins of the movie, totally enthralling. Makkhi is not an ordinary film despite its 100% entertainment value this is a story of one’s determination and will power too.  With this movie, year 2012 has register one more original story in its club celebrating success and making the unbelievable believable...Go for it!
