I don't think there is a real true way to maintain a microwave oven. I am actually hoping to come up with seventy-five words for this, so if I babble a bit bear with me.

I use 409 on my microwave oven, but I do not spray it directly in it. I put some 409 on the sponge then wipe clean, and I also make sure I ring my sponge out very well.

Occasionally I also use Soft Scrub with bleach,(it seems to remove the tougher stains with a lot more ease.)

Whenever I put oatmeal in it for my baby girl it always seems to bubble over. Soft scrub with bleach seems to do wonders for that, and you know how sticky oatmeal can be!

I have never heard of maintenance for a microwave oven, but if you still have the manual for it try looking up the maintenance for it. I am sorry if this doesn't help you.
