Having read so many reviews I decided to test drive the Logan, since I was waiting for it's launch. I went to the dealer in Mumbai called Bhavsar motors. The dealer is just across the road fortunately. The sales guy was extremely enthusiastic. It took a bit longer than expected to get the car ready for a spin. I drove the 1.6 L fully loaded petrol version. The looks from outside are average I mean nothing good or bad. The interiors are roomy no doubt. The boot is just huge. The driver seat has height adjustable lever which is a good thing. Excellent head room. There is lumbar support which I have not seen in other cars and being an orhtopedic surgeon treating backaches I would give this 10 extra points.
The funny part is the power window switches. The driver and his passenger side switches are on the front panel which is odd but one can get used to it, however the rear window switches my god they are between the two front seats in an awkward position! 10 points gone for that. And yes the boot doesnot open from inside! the reason given is that there is an engine immobilzer provided as a standard and the ignition key activates it so the boot can not be opened from inside..i did not understan this concept. In mumbai most of the multiplexes or even hotels search the boot while you enter their car park so be prepared to get out of the car or give the key to the security guy!
The control like all other european cars are "ulta" so there should be no cribbing about that I mean even skoda is same, one gets used to it after turning on the vipers a few times! The visibility is good. The drive is comfortable and the A/C is Ok. The hood opener is on the passenger side so exrcise your back in a bad way if you want the bonnet to be opened! The leg room for the rear seat passengers is good. The CD changer is Blaupunkt which is excellent. I read about sgnal indicator being single, true but then if it is blinking, making a noise then any idiot knows whether he is going right or left so why worry? The trip counter is illuminated and it kept me distracted all the time because you are only used to the empty tank signal illuminating in other cars!
It takes 5 weeks for the delivery! It is not available in many cities yet and hence our bloke from chennai was seen cribbing about the dealers.
Price quoted 6.63 on the road. Now that is cheap considering the other cars in similar group. There is a 2 year warranty too. For me, I am waiting for the SX-4 launch next month before I decide which one will I buy. For complition sake I drive an accent now.
