No matter what we say, women and their lives in India are still a far way off from progress. If we let go of the sophisticated and liberal women in the metros, there still is a large number of women in our country who have to go through the cliched taunts and happenings in their lives.
In this book, Sudha Murthy brings to us a story of one such woman, Anupama. The beauty of this book lies in its simplicity. The smooth and effortless flow of the narrative is worth mentioning.
The basic story is about a simple woman getting married and later on discovering she has leukoderma. Even though leukoderma is curable, it is considered as a curse in our country. The book revolves around Anupama and the hardships she has to face after being abandoned by one and all due to her illness and how she tackles them and makes the best for her out of it.
I love and recommend this book to every woman in our country. Anupama's story is an inspiration to all of us women.
