What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you think about holidays? Of course, we think about some nice location out from the hectic urban world, but once we have decided the place its time to think about some nice accommodation that can make our holiday trip memorable. Very few people realize the importance of accommodation when they are going out with their family. A bad accommodation can really spoil the fun so you need to ensure that your temporary stay at the hotel becomes a dream that you can remember even when you return home.
I have always written articles about products and experiences that I have had so that I can provide the best information to my readers. Recently, I went on a small trip to Mahabaleshwar not so far away from Mumbai or Pune. I came across this small farm house secluded in the hills of Panchgani and Mahabaleshwar. Shiv Sagar Farm House may not be your destination if you are looking for a high quality resort with swimming pools and extra luxuries, but if you are a budget holiday traveler like me then you will be glad to know that this place offers the best value for money accommodation.
If you are thinking about taking your partner for a nice little trip out of Mumbai or Pune into the hills of Mahabaleshwar, but if you are tied up with your budget then this farm house is the best option that you have on hand. The farm house is not located in the heart of the city which means you will have to get down in Bhilar(Bhose Village) around 14 kilometers before Mahabaleshwar, but you can enjoy the rural climate and atmosphere. Initially, I was looking for various other hotels located in the heart of Mahabaleshwar, but I found that none of them would offer me that scenic location. Shiv Sagar Farm House does not offer a mind-blowing landscape outside your hotel window, but what it offers is a genuine rural experience as the farm house has a nice strawberry farm right besides it. So, what you get is an experience of living few days like local people do. Every time you walk out of your room you see strawberry farms loaded with strawberries, onions, capsicums, cabbages and even tomatoes.
Another good thing about Shiv Sagar Farm House is that they also offer pick up and drop facilities from the local bus stand or even from Mahabaleshwar if you are stuck with finding the location, or if you need assistance. Guess what, this was my first trip to Mahabaleshwar and I was completely confused but Sagar(owner) helped me out by sending his car to the local bus stand which was great help. They can also arrange a nice car for you if you want to trip around Mahabaleshwar and Panchgani for next few days.
Well, right above I was talking about the accommodation experience so let me tell you more about the rooms. Honestly, it was the set up of the room that attracted me the most. The rooms are nothing less than luxury suites, at least for budget travelers like me. The room design is simple, elegant and big enough to grab your attention. It has the wow factor that you can enjoy for as many days as you are in that place. They have 24 hours hot water and bathrooms are spacious as extremely clean so you never have to complain about it. The rooms have LCD TV for entertainment and lighting work in the room will steal your heart, extremely well done.
If you love to take evening walks you can always walk down the local bus stand and enjoy some good time at Pure Berry Factory Outlet just 20 minutes walk away or even at Manama Factory Outlet just 15 minutes walk away. In fact both the factory outlets are on the same road and offer great products with 20% discount on MRP, so why buy the same products from Mahabaleshwar market when you get it here from factory outlet with discounts that can save you more money. There are some nice restaurants around the farm house like Rustom's Inn that can provide you great food. You can also take a nice walk to the table land mountain which is not too far from this farm house so you can ask the locals how to reach the table land mountain and anybody will guide you. I would like to inform my readers to carry a flashlight/torch when you are strolling the nearby locations late evenings as there are hardly any street lights available.
Oh yes, if you are heading to Panchganga Temple in Mahabaleshwar.look out for Hotel Savera restaurant just near the gates. You get superb homemade Maharastrian food at a budget price that won't burn a hole in your pocket. When you are staying at Shiv Sagar Farm House, you will find another restaurant called Anmol Inn right next to the farm house, AVOID eating your meals there. Its expensive and tasteless.
Also I would like to mention that when you are Bhose Village it is better to take the local state transport buses that ply every 10-15 minutes. These buses charge 12 bucks from Bhose Village to Mahabaleshwar per person and it takes around 23 minutes during the journey. These buses take passengers from Mahabaleshwar to Wai and back so make use of it instead of spending your money on local taxis that charge you 300 bucks for the same route. If you are planning to take your family for a small 3 to 5 days trip to Mahabaleshwar within 10K then Shiv Sagar Farm House will offer you a memorable trip.
Just in case you want to check out the pictures then you can find it here -

You can view the pictures of the room and the farm house where I stayed. I would also like my readers to pay attention to the details of the room when the lights are on. In room pictures when the side lights are on, do pay attention to the base of the bed. There are hidden bulbs at the base of the bed that glows the floors. This works like a night light so you can see the floor when you want to visit the bathroom at night without disturbing your partner or turning on the lights. I have checked out various budget hotels like Sai Villa and Tulsi Niwas but I can't find a budget hotel that has such classy rooms and light decorations.
