If ever God would have granted me a wish,it would have been to be Madhuri Dixit and no one else.
Madhuri Dixit or Md as I fondly call her,became a rage after the song Ek Do Teen.The very first filmfare for choregraphy was won by Saroj Khan for this song from Tezaab.
Ek Do Teen established her as a dancer,but she was recognized as an actress after
Dil which released in 1990 and she also won her first filmfare for that movie.
After Dil there was no looking back.Movies like Beta,Sajan,Khalnayak,Raja,Anjaam,
Parinda,Khel,Dil To Pagal Hai,Lajja,Devdas,Pukar and Hum Aap Ke Hain Koun established her position in the industry.She became the uncrowned queen of Bollywood.An actress who was not only an amazing and graceful dancer but also brilliant actress.Her expressions matched that of Nargis,her beauty rivalled Madhubala's beauty,her dancing skills were as good as Vyjantimala's dances;with
a talent like hers she was sure to make it big but the heights that she acheived was
unthought of.She was proclaimed as the female Amitabh Bachchan after the release
of Raja,which only tasted success because of the presence of Md.
After Raja Hindustani n Gupt,it looked like Madhuri's successors had arrived in the
form of Karisma n Kajol but Kajol left the industry in 1998 n had her career cut short as she got married {though she's making a comeback in Fanaa},Karisma continued
to do films like Biwi No.1,Haseena Maan Jayegi,Hum Saath Saath Hain,Fiza,Zubeidaa n Shakti which insured her the number 2 spot,but Karisma started doing fewer films
to insure that Kareena received maximum offers and eventually Karisma married in 2003.
The industry is still searching for an actress who could be atleast 30% if not more like Madhuri Dixit.Despite Rani and Preity holding the number one and number two position they have not been able to replace her.
It remains to be seen if the next brigade of Bollywood Actresses can replace Md.
Hopes are pinned on actresses like Lara,Priyanka,Bipasha,Sushmita,Vidya Balan,Ayesha Takia and Kareena Kapoor.
