Visited The Vaishno Devi Temple at Katra 2 years ago.Hotel had provided with darshan pass and pickup and drop facility to the base entry of the temple.
The journey walking is around 15 kms and usually takes around 6 hours by foot to reach the temple.We had started climbing at noon and reached the temple by arounf 7pm.There is option of horse ride also at predefined prices.
The entire path is very well developed with proper signages and refreshment counters and washrooms at regular intervals.
The path has slopes all the way along with an option of stairs with the number of stairs written before climbing the stairs.
Lockers are present near the temple for the convinience of devotees.
There are various check points all the way to scan the darshan passes for security seasons.
Spend around an hour at the holy temple and had dinner in a restaurant in the vicinity wondering the difficulty bringing in grocery and other items for cooking purpose that too on a daily basis.
We were very tired climbing to the temple so while returning down we opted for horse ride which took 3 hrs to reach the base entry point.
It was a first time experience for me and my body was aching very badly after this journey, but a memorable journey.
