If you are a pioneer in your field, your brand name is often used to indicate the product. For example, to many Nirma means detergent powder and Colgate means toothpaste. Similarly, Lux stands for bathing soap for most of us.
Lux definitely has the advantage of being one of the oldest brand in the soap industry. It also has glamour attached to it, thanks to the Bollywood starlets. Nevertheless, it does not live up to my expectations.
Priced reasonably in the range of Rs.12 to Rs.18, it comes in various fragrances to suit different skin types. The packaging is pretty attractive. So far so good. However, when you start using it, small cracks appear on the soap bar. It fails to give the soft-creamy feeling [think Nivea] nor does it make your bath a refreshing one [think Liril]. The fragrance that tickled your nostrils when you unwrapped the soap bar fades after the first use.
On the plus side, the soap lathers well and lasts over two-and-a-half weeks. To conclude, all Lux has to offer is a clean feeling.
