How I wish to turn 18 tonight! Don't you wish?
Rhea (Shraddha Kapoor), the 18 year old fashion girl is just out after the exams and is all set to enter a different league of life; from a girl to a woman. She has two close friends who stand with her in all crisis situations. Together they have a rocking teenage life, who don't spare anybody have a pass on them. Rhea is in love with Luv Nanda (Taaha Shah) who is the son of a drug smuggler businessman where he is good looking, rich, have style and every girl wish to be his girlfriend. Rhea is all willing to lose her virginity on this birthday night, after attending the Freddie Kapoor rock party, believing in the love of Nanda. The plan met a hurdle where Rhea's parents had to travel that night leaving the caring of grand mother to her. Rhea had no choice but to say sorry to Luv Nanda who is disappointed but not without a plan B, Natasha. Rhea and Gang find this 500 point secret and Luv Ka the End begins.
There are not many teeny fictions get a chance in Bollywood. If they get a release they don't get much attention as well. For a change, 'Luv Ka The End' succeeds in bringing a purely teenage girl film in an entertaining manner with a fresh air of change. It is a celebration of teenage and the viewer must be willing to enter the season with all the eagerness of time.
The screen play & dialogue writers succeed in making the thin story interesting. The Director (Bumpy) converts them to happy images to make a decent entertainer. The film length is only 115 minutes or so. The first hour is perfect in every sense. Characters are introduced within no time and the when the turn of events happens we are all eager to wait to see its execution. The second hour however begins with a disappointed note where lack of imagination in execution of scenes reduced the impact and it was a wait and watch time. Probably 20 minutes or so are lost like this and I felt whether they are going to spoil the entire show which was excellent throughout the first half. Thankfully the final half an hour brought back the interest and overall effect of the movie is good to very good where it could have been very good to excellent.
Shradda Kapoor steals the show. The young actress perfectly fit the teenage role. Her pleasant face and expressions are cool. Her friends, both of them are good and deliver good performance. Taaha Shah did justice to the role assigned to him and fits the bill. The child artist, the granny and rest of the cast were good.
Costume designers had a role to play in this film and they did it well. The makers on their side tried to get maximum number of endorsements and tried to fill the space and book some revenue before its release.
Cinematography is good. Editing is average to good. At places the flow is not smooth and the film could have trimmed a bit for better.
Music of the film is good. And when it was played continuously in the background we may hum a tune or two while exiting from the theatre. Hinglish it is and the importance of lyrics took a back seat where it found love too sitting idle over there.
For a change it is good to see grand parents and children in bollywood films where in most other films characters are grand parentless and lives in houses where children trees never grow.
Ok, it is a new generation girlie film. The pepper spray generation. A sample of future generation which falls in the illusion of money, web and parties! Studies in English Medium and live the English world in web. No wonder the dialogues and songs are mostly Hinglish. Never mind, it targets the teenagers who very well know the Hinglish and the makers did justice in selecting the Hinglish as the chosen language. While cherishing the spirit of love it motivates the teenagers not to chuckle the burns of it. Vacation time, teens has a reason to celebrate, 'Luv Ka The End' - not of Love's!
