Lulu International shopping mall in Edapally Kochi is a multibrand shopping mall owned by the Lulu group run by Yusuf Ali, a UAE based Malayali businessman. The mall is four storeyed, also there is a multi storeyed car park in the basement. The mall was started in mid 2013 and from then on it acts as a tourist destination more than a shopping mall.
A feature because it acts as tourist destination is the never ending crowd rush. Ive been there multiple times and each time I had to wait in a queue to park. It important to note that the parking area is humongous and you can easily get lost in there, also there is multiple entries and exits.
On a rush day you may have to wait over half an hour to park. It might b a good idea to park outside and come in. And for a mall this size you cant walk without running into people on a rush day. But the overall atmosphere and ambiance in the mall is really good. It is really spacious and open and you dont feel confined even in the rush. It is beautifully lit, the design is great and feels fresh.
Coming to the shopping facilities, almost all the major brands are present, both foreign and Indian and covers all your shopping needs like electronics, clothing jewellery and the like. Apart from the brand store there are also departmental stores. West side is the one I remember, and also lulu's own stores. Lulu hypermarket, largest hypermarket in India covers half of the ground floor and covers all the daily use items from utensils, gardening tools to grocery, meat and everything packaged. Also there is lulu connect for electronics and Lulu fashion store for clothing and accessories. The lulu stores alone will fulfill your shopping needs.
Apart from shopping there are also multiple option for entertainment and eateries. All the major International food chains like kfc mcdonalds, pizza hut etc are present. Also there is a very large food court with lot of outlets. All the outlets except mcdonalds is situated on the top floor. The top floor has entertainment options, with a small amusement park, arcade game spot and play area for kids and also there is an ice skating ring. There is also a 11 screen PVR multiplex.
Overall this a great mall to visit for its size and number of shops and also to enjoy its beauty and grandeur. It has great location too, it is at the meeting point of old nh17 and nh47( now renamed nh66 and nh544).
