The fort is about 1 hr from pune and is close to malavali station nearby to bhaje caves. Lohagad means Iron fort which it really is. . you will be amazed to see how they would have managed to construct such a great fort at so much height and that too in that period when there were no Morden machines. .
The fort gives an excellent view of lonavala, malavali, visapur fort, and bhatrashi hill. . you can also see bhaje caves which is on way. .
The main attraction of the fort are ganesh darwaja narayan darwaja, hanuman darwaja and maha darwaja, water tanks and so on.
On the base you will find some restaurant have your food there. carry your water bottle along with you.
The fort itself displays no information so it will be good if you read up the history of the fort before you go. you will enjoy more.
Do carry your camera along with you . fort has a stunning view both from the top and on way.
The best time to visit the fort is monsoon season and do wear good shoes for climbing up.
