Smooth serenade, nitty- gritty's of a Warriors life, Huge Star Cast and the war films trend- setter. Ha! You thought it is difficult to compose music and penn down lyrics for such a movie. Well, not very easy, but if you have two movies to back-up the inspiration lot. Here you are...!!
Director: J. P. Dutta
Lyrics: Javed Akhtar
Music: Anu Malik
Before we forget (Instrumental)- Soothing flute....no words...some memories and the effect is mesmerizing.
Ek saathi aur bhi tha (Sonu Nigam)- Remember ''mere dushman mere bhai..'' from Border? Well it does remind you of lot of songs which Anu malik has composed...I'm talking about the serenade ones. Soft and nice, but seems to have been plagiarised from his own previous work. There are instruments used which make the sound different it is a plain and if insist 'Ok'.
Khush Rehna (Roopkumar Rathod)- Sufism is the in thing!! it is Sufi and definitely not for everyone. The qawwalii and sufi style has been practised and used so much that no it does not have and effect untill and unless fused well with trend, like ''Allah key bandey..'' in Waisa bhi hota hai- II. Anuji please rehash the style!!
Main kahin bhi rahoon (Roopkumar Rathod)- Do you remember Roopkumar Rathod (the one who sung 'ae jaatey huey lamhon..') well you will once you listen to this song. He is back with what he is best at. This one will actually remind you of someone you are missing. The nostalgia will catch over your thoughts and work as a time machine, taking you back to those days, months and years. This song also boasts of desert feel with sitar in it. Which is so Indian and yes certainly ''Ae dil-e-nadaan....'' is one song that strikes to you, as you listen to the beats in the background. The lyricist has shown his mettle in this song. Though Javed saab does not need to prove anything because he has surpassed him-self. In this one listen to the words which have an earthy feel and fragrance of the days gone by.
Don't forget to check out shehnai which is catchy and not sharp ' n' noisy like other movies. The chorus does nothing but 'Oh ho ho ho.....' believe you me that sounds very 'Army in action'. By the way the SONG is long and nice. Yes, this is the famous 15 mins song. Gratitude to the loved ones. Memoirs of the one whose thought gave comfort in testing times. I really like this song.
Pyar bhara geet (Instrumental)- Hmmm....this one serves more like a prelude to the next song. It is nice calm music.
Pyar bhara geet (Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal)- This one definitely reminds of ''Aisa lagta hai...''from Refugee. It is an ok love song between a the beaus. If the one complaints about the others work then the other is busy giving explanation. It is cute, if you want to say!??!! Definitely faster in pace than the other compositions in the album.
Seemayein bulaey tujhey (Alka Yagnik)- Here she is...at her BEST! Alka does it again. Unquestionably the best song of the album. The song makes a strong statement about how a woman who has sent her husband for a battle feels. The lyrics dominate the song and so does the feel. It has chorus of Marching Men who speak out the lines 'seemayein bulaey tujhey..' and the soft tone of the brave wives. Well wisher, lonely, missing him and waiting for him with bated breath. It is not so easy to sing for five female leads, again if you are Alka Yagnik, just go about doing anything and you will triumph. Listen to this one, if you have a heart....!
The album is definitely strong on emotions, yet misses out the zing in instruments and compositions. It does tell you a lot about how an Army officer, who is also a human being, feels. How does his wife react when she is alone and hoping for the husband to be back from the battle front. It also tells you about how good J. P. Dutta is at making a Border- part II. Yes, the album does reflect the shades of Border, it is time we get over The BORDER hangover.
Guess, a different subject would have helped. What say J. P sir?</b
