Story:

Reading classics has never been anyones favourite pasttime.Classics are considered very boring but this book is so enchanting that the reader would never feel like putting down this book. This story has the back ground of 1888.Its an entralling tale of Sara Crewe, a small girl with deep thoughts and old fashioned speech, who is dearly loved by her father. As Sara is a motherless child, her father is everything for her and he fulfills Sara's smallest wishes.

From the very begining, Sara is treated like a princess .From India, she is sent to a boarding school in London. But soon after that, her world shatters when her dearest father dies out of stress in business and betrayal by an old friend. In the middle of her extravagant birthday party ,she recieves the news from her principle, Miss Minchin. From a show pupil with an extravagant room, she is reduced to a mere servant in rags with a room in the attic with the company of a family of mice. She is ill treated in her own boarding school which had once treated her like a princess.

'Yes' answered Sara' My papa is dead. He left me no money. I m quiet poor.' 'You are a beggar' said miss Minchin, her temper rising at the recollection of what all this meant.'It appears that you have no relation , no home , and no one to take care of you.'

The story then continues about how she was illtreated and kept hungary through out the day.She is denied food and is sent to the market in the coldest and most rainy days.the story tells us about Sara's beautiful imagination and how she manages to be strong even when she is treated like a slave. Her principle and her imagination in this story is miraculous and is depicted beautifully .

'What were you thinking?' demanded Miss Minchin. 'How dare you think? What were you thinking?'

'I was thinking' said Sara,'what would happen if I were a princess and you boxed my ears - what should I do to you. and I was thinking that if I were one, you would never dare to do it, whatever I said or did. And I was thinking how surprised and frightened you would be if you suddenly found out-'

But one day a strange and sick indian gentleman shifts in the next house .From here the life of Sara gradually changes. Read the book to find out what happens next and truly, you will realise how fine and sweet the story is .

HAPPY READING!!!
