Lingaa - Another crispy masala Movie from Rajini. Review on Lingaa

Now "LETS BEGIN" the Review.

First of all I am not a Fan of Rajini sir or Kamal ji or Shri Amitabh or any other actor or even Director.  I watch movie based on its Tagline and how it been presented.

I am one of few guys who missed out watching Mass Rajini movies like Mathu, Annamalai and even Padayappa at theaters. Missed Rajini movies before 1997 becoz I was living in North India & becoz in 97 no theaters actually screened Rajini movies in the city I lived.  But I watched Thalapathi, Annamalai and muthu in the Rented VCR Decks.

I missed out padayappa becoz I was preparing for my 11std annual exams and had continued classes for 12th std with no leaves at all(had to go to school even on sunday's). But After missing out padayappa, except Baba, I did not miss out any Rajini movie watching at theaters.

Though every Rajini movie gives some enthusiasm or hunger reason to watch, Wat made me to watch this movie was "The Stolen lingaa story" case.  So, I booked the movie for 14th Dec and watched it.

THE PROS and CONS are as follows -

1. The Basic line - Yes, like usual this movie is definitely expected to be great becoz of Rajinkanth, KS Ravikumar and AR Rahman Combination.  And yes, Like it was expected, this combination is a success again.

And to make this combination success a strong hold, some long time past beliefs hav also been pulled in like SPB's intro song, Rajini's Famous Snake sentiment and Rajini's Father-son role.

Conclusion - A Pass.

1. The Story line/Plot - Again a usual its a Basic Rajini Storyline with a few changes.  Just like a current day Rajini and a past Rajini, the plot color is almost similar to that of Muthu and Arunachalam.  But the Concept of Dam related to prior Independence was different.

Conclusion - Neutral.

1. The Cast "RAJINI" and its 2 Characters - Rajini as usual as other KSR movies, is found doing his own things.  Because of his recent health issues and aging, Rajini sir is seen to have put on some weight and therefore his action are little sluggish this time.  So I missed his usual "fast movement".  Its Not Rajini's or KSR's fault.  Its quite natural due to Aging.

To me, Character Raja Lingeswaran is far awesome and stylish than character Lingaa.

Conclusion - A Pass(forever).  And Rajini Sir, pls take care of ur health.

1. Other Characters - All other characters including Sonakshi, Anushka, santhanam, Babu, Radha Ravi and Vijaykumar hav all done their role perfectly.  Even Foreign actors Falk Columbo, Lauren and others wer superb too.

Conclusion - A Pass.

1. Comedy & Emotions - Comedy for present age story done by Santhanam, KK and Bramandam are super good.  But Since its Rajini sir, Santhanam's comedies have been limited from Nanben da to Nanban & da.

But Emotions are at the highest level. Wow.  at few scenes tears almost came of my eyes and I had to control it so hard at the theater.

Conclusion - A Pass.

1. Sets and Graphics - Sets are very close to Director Shankar movie sets, very huge and majestic. In tamil its "Bramandam" sets.  But Graphics is not that perfect, reveals the graphic works at many scenes.

Conclusion - A Neutral.

1. Direction, Cinematography and editing - Each of these departments have done their duty sincerely awesome.  KSR and teams have proved it again.

Conclusion - A Pass(w/o a doubt).

1. Music/Soundtrack - If its ARR, no one can doubt his oscar capability.  Superb sweet as usual.  May That be full Soundtrack listing but also OST, all are the BEST.  Thalaivar Songs na summa va(both Rajini and ARR).   Rating are as follows(as for me) -

a. Oh Nanba - 3.5 Stars

b. En Mannava - 4 stars

c. Indiane Vaa - 5 stars

d. Mona Gasolina - 4.5 stars

e. Unmai Orunaal Vellum - 5 stars

Conclusion - A Pass

1. The Scenes I loved -

a. All the punch dialogues between Raja and collector. The punches are very mature.

b. The Scene wer Raja Lingeswaran speaks against Religion and caste and says "We r all only Indians".

c. The Train scene "Lets Begin"

d. The scene wer collector's wife reveals the truth about her husband.  Some Britishers wer also good hearted.

e. Rajini's style of getting on the bike.  Wow.   Vijay, ajith or even Tom cruise are no close.

f. The usual but different favorite "Snake Scene".   Love u Thalaiva.

1. Rubbish scenes(Dislikes)

a. Most of the thief Lingaa scenes wer not impressive. And moreover the Necklace robbery scene was all rubbish.

b. Weapons used in the movie wer all crap props too.  For a big budget movie like this they atleast cud have inserted Airsoft look alike AK47 and pistols.

c. Too Much of closeup shots for Rajini at songs could have been minimized.  His increase in sluggish weight is clearly visible.

d. The Entire Climax Balloon Scene, Again same old bomb crap.!  Unbearable at all.

VERDICT - So overall, Lingaa is a Sweat Cake treat to us all by stylish Rajinikanth and KSR Fans for his Bday.   In simple famous words "Lingaa - A TYPICAL RAJINI MOVIE".

BUT ALSO, Technically I think "Lingaa is a Advanced Patti Tinkering of the movie Muthu". And Scientifically, I think both Muthu and Lingaa has some commonness in them. how!-

a. Both names Muthu and Lingaa denote precious Stones.

b. Both movies has Father-son Rajini roles(son or Grandson) and its flashback raja-jamindar sentiment.

c. Both movies has ARR and KSR.

So this also makes me to think that movie can also be named as "Muthu 2 - Lingeshwara" Thou the movie Lingaa deserves only 3.5 out 5 Ratings. I give 5 star rating here all because of Rajini Sir's hard work even thou he has health issues.

And an Advice and request to all Directors and Rajini Fans especially - "Pls people, Rajini sir e innum kasta paduthadhinga, Pavam avaru.   Pls guys let him take more rest.  His health is more important than movies.  Avarum Human thaan.

I love and care for Rajini sir more, becoz Rajini looks almost similar to my Dad, who passed was 5 yrs ago. When I saw Lingeshwaran Rajini at the Solaiyur Station, that mustache and dressing, immediately my dad only came to my mind and I was almost in tears in his remembrance. Anyways Thalaivar thalaivar thaan.  Always.   Thank you and Take care sir.
