I didn't feel that a Microwave oven was a 'necessary' household item when I had just stared working, but the begining of this year, when my life style changed a bit (it become much busier then ever before) I seriously contemplated for some time and decided that having a Micorwave may help me to save some time.
About this one and its main features
This is a sweet litte LG MS-304 MO (Micorwave Oven) and boasts of lots of features. Unlike other Overs, this one has a pull-push door, ie you have to just pull and push rather then press on a fancy push botton.
The capacity of LG MS-304 is quite good and just enough for me. There are seperate programmes to cook Biriyani/Rice which makes it interesting for Indians as Rice is most often our staple diet.
There is a inbuilt Kitchen timer and power level controller and various power levels like 100%, 80% etc, most of the receipies and processed ready to heat and eat food recommends a particular powerlevel.
Cooking
I have experiemened a lot with LG MS-304 and I make everything from coffee to rice to roast chicken in this one and it saves lot of sweat, I mean real sweat. In the Chennai heat, the kitchen is hot and using a conventional stove and constantly standing near it makes you sweat. Doesn't happen now, I have to stirr the food once in a while. Moreover the food tastes better (Really) cos its cooked in its own juices/water.
Defrosting
But there are still some things that I prefer to cook on a conventional stove, like my morning breakfast of Fried sausages, but still I use my LG MS-304 to deforst it. Defrosting food have never been faster. Seperate defrosting options are available for Poultry, meat etc.
Re-Heating
The real advantage I get is to re-heat the food, earlier I have to take a small quantity of the food I need to use out of the fridge and heat it, and it was bit time consuming and needed constant attention from my. Now, I need to just put it in my LG MS-304
Some Info
There are somethings you should take care of though:
1.Use only Micorwaveable utensils while cooking.
2.Try to aviod heating Water in MO, as its potentially dangerous.
3.Keep some water when the Microwave is not in use, it will absorb the excess Radiation. (No heating though :-)
4.Stuff like Potatoes, Sausages etc needs to be pierced with a needle else it may burst and then its takes a hell a lot of time to clean the oven.
5.Use only plain water and a clean piece of cloth to clean the interiors.
What I feel
Its generally agreed the Microwaves are not dangerous for Humans and hope is tru. I depend on my LG MS-304
a lot. With a price tag of of around 12,000 bucks in Chennai
its a very good buy. So go ahead and try this one.
Hope this gave you some info on LG MS-304
Peace
