Hope u guys are doing well. I thank MS one more time for the opportunity to pen my 5th review. Well, this is my third review on a mobile phone and this time its a pretty simple cost effective mobile.
Earlier, I was using Nokia 6303 Classic(used by my wife now) which had small keypad, which I had mentioned in my earlier review about that Phone. I found it hard to text(I am a heavy texter) so I wanted a phone which has a pretty big keypad that fits my thumb. As I was browsing the net, I came across this phone.
This looked cool and had a considerably bigger keypad. But then again, moving from a higher end mobile to basic was eating my mind away. Somehow, I made up my mind and wanted to try this. Bought an LG GS108 in the month of Feb'11, at Cell Point in Vizag. I had this mobile earlier before Dec'10 but was taken by my relative(who liked this to a Nokia 1661). I liked this so much that I just could not hesitate to buy one more time. The price is affordable and it costs Rs.1200. This is a very light weight mobile(66g) that you hardly you will fell this in your pocket. The dimensions are : 89 * 119 * 55 Cu.mm. Let me tell you in detail about this little champion.
1. Weight: The first thing you would feel, obviously, is the weight. It is so light that you hardly have the feel of carrying it. I keep my mobile in the rear pocket of my trousers that sometimes I forget that I am sitting on it!! ;) But this guy is so hard and also had a few falls since new. Nevertheless, nothing happened to this Hercules.
2.Looks: Simple. That's the good thing about this gadget. No flashy stuff and easy to navigate buttons.
3.Features: Now is the story. This mobile has two basic features that anybody would want to have.
(i) Torch & (ii) Wireless FM. The torch is so powerful that it can be compared to a twin LED. Powerful. The other big stuff is the FM which is wireless. No need to plug in any headset and a one touch button would turn on your radio loud- Really loud. Good clarity that you won't feel disappointed. The battery life is a bonus. I charge it on Monday morning and it dies down only on Thursday evening(Daily 5-6calls for 9Mins average, Torch for 10mins per two days).
4.Menu & Options: There is no middle button for menu and you find it at the left key of the mobile. Clicking on that will show you a menu that has 9different options to choose from. 1. Message 2.Contacts 3.Log 4.Games 5.Radio 6.Profiles 7.Tools 8. Organizer and 9.Settings. All these are similar to the one we find in Nokia. I have detailed only a few stuff below.
1.Messages: This has 9 sub menus and your inbox, outbox and drafts can save more messages.
2.Log: It can store 50calls(all), Missed calls, Received calls and dialled numbers-20each, which I feel is pretty good.
3.Games: It should be Game. It has only Space Ball.
4.Profiles: Same like what you have in other mobiles. Under that, 10Default Ringtones and 4message tones. The vibration is very strong and can be very well felt even during bike driving. Excellent.
5.Devices: Here is where you find torch(There is no dedicated key for this), Fake call, Calculator, Stop watch, Unit converter & World Clock.
6.Organizer: Here you will see the Alarm and the reminder. Again basic stuff.
7.Settings: No flashy stuff here too. But under the language option, you can choose from 7languages which include Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Bengali, Kannada and Telugu. I've chosen Tamil.
In addition to the above, this mobile has Anti-Theft Mobile Tracker, which allows you to track your lost phone. Also, there is another uncommon feature which is the call block. You can block unwanted calls. On activating this option, the person dialing your number will get a message that your number is not reachable. Pretty useful to avoid advertisement calls.
The keypad backlight colour is blue which gives a pleasent look in the dark(See attached pics).
So if anyone has any idea to buy this champion, please do that right away. VFM, guaranteed.
LG-Lifes Good.Really Good.
