I have a 9 year old LG Trom washer & dryer set. The dryer has quit working. My regular appliance repair person ( who is fantastic! ) advised that he is not able to provide service to us this time because apparently LG does not allow independent repair people to repair their products, you must deal with them directly. Annoying, but I made the call. Not only was it frustrating because of a bit of a language barrier ( & yes, I pressed 1 for English) but I was advised that they could not provide me with any kind of a price estimate. All signs point to the need for a new motor, which is kind of worst case, so I figured I would get a quote so I could decide if it was worth having serviced or I'd simply buy a new dryer. But nope, they can't provide that information. If I want that information, I must call their authorized service centre which is more local. I'm confused at this point, how they can not know the price of their own parts, but I call the authorized service centre who also seem confused. Not only can they NOT give me a price quote, but they go on to explain that they don't even carry parts - they too must go & order them from LG ( at this point I'm thinking that Someone at LG must know how much the part costs then! ).
