I bought a LG 42LV5500 LED TV hoping that it would last long. The first shocker came when I bought this Smart TV and tried connecting to internet. But their WiFi dongle wasn't compatible with the Linksys WiFi router that I had. So literally I couldn't use internet thru WiFI and had to use Ethernet connection. The next shocker came when I tried watching YouTube video thru this TV. This smart TV doesn't even have buffering logic for YouTube videos, so it just hangs for a while plays the video for few seconds and again hangs while it downloads the content. The worst browsing experience you expect and only from LG products I guess.
Next came the big blow. After using it for year and half, the TV started displaying vertical lines in the display. To my horror I called the after sales service guy. He took couple of days to come and then evaluated the TV and said I have to change the entire panel. And he told this is normal and that you should have gone for AMC or extended warranty. And to my horror he quoted around Rs.28000 for replacing the panel for 1.5 years old TV.
I am wondering how many are facing similar issues with LG TVs. At least the sales man was candid and said that lot of people are facing this issue. So LG is selling TVs in India which they know will be rendered useless in 1.5 years? And that too to a product which is priced above Rs.60, 000 they give warranty for just 1 year. And they don't inform customer that it is better to go for extended warranty for their lousy product.
I am completely disappointed with this product from LG and wondering what are my options. If many customers have faces this issue, then probably I will think about going to consumer court and prove that they are selling defective product in India. How I wish we had some kind of class action suit in India.
