Delivery, Demo and Installation - Hassle free
I bought it off Flipkart keeping the 30 day return window in mind . This was for my small bedroom and size 28 inches or 70 cms seemed appropriate .
I still feel amazons 10 day return policy and snapdeals 7 days for the return are not enough .
The TV arrived at my doorstep in less than 48 hours in a time slot I scheduled . Good work Flipkart .
The demo and installation was already fixed(future scheduled within the next 2 days) before the TV arrived and would be taken care of within 48 hours after delivery . Meanwhile on delivery after I paid the money to the flipkart courier guys who opened the package after I paid the full COD amount to show me there was no physical damage to the unit .
After the guys from flippy left I took out the appropriate transform stand and 4 small screws and fixed the base of the television and tested it . All was well .
Also on expected lines the LG guy for demo and wall mount arrived 2 days later . His demo was very superficial although being geeky enough I didn't mind it . But he did make some changes to the color and brightness as I felt the settings were very intense.
The LED TV Comes with 4 pre built settings and the one I liked was "vivid" but just had to lower the color and the brightness a tad .
"Standard" is also acceptable but "Game" and "Cinema" settings, dull the display and it appears lacklustre .
Connectivity Options
It has 1 usb port that supports both usb 3.0 and usb 2.0 pendrives and played every format audio/ video/ image that I pushed towards it . The port is deep set behind the Tv and is not easy to reach . Its advised to use a usb extension cable along with an hdmi extension cable as both the ports are not easily accessible being at the rear centre of the TV .
It also has 1 hdmi port but 2 would have been great and almost essential these days .
It has 1 antenna RF in and 1 RCA audio out and 1 RCA audio / video IN for analog signals or in simple words a standard set top box .
For PC connectivity it also has a VGA port and one DC in that connects to the power brick/ power adaptor, the power consumption is 52 watts at 19 Volts, though the wattage drops to just .3w in the standby mode .
No hdmi/ vga cable is included.Infact i'm thinking an hdmi/ a usb extender cable along with an hdmi cable should be a mandatory part of the accessories just like a remote .
Features This hd Tv like others has a resolution of 1366 x 768, weighs 4.2 kilos w/ o the stand and has immensely good colors, contrast and brightness . The skin tones are also quite natural.
The real issue is the sharpness. The video pixelates more than it should unless you keep the sharpness very low and that dulls the whole picture . The text and subtitles may come across as soft and jagged / fuzzy, depending on the font/ font size used . For this very reason this Tv is not the best choice as a monitor, which again negates the logic to include a VGA port
The TV just uses 1 physical on / off button placed at the bottom and can be used like a joystick, I mean has 4 different pressure points . One can also access settings, menu and Input options via this only button .
The viewing angles pose no issue . The sound quality is loud enough and crisp without being ear -shattering . Its stereo ie. 2 x 5RMS.
The bass and treble levels are good but nothing great . Of course one is able to use the RCA audio out port and connect a Home- Theatre system .
The base stand also called the "transform stand" is a little hard to assemble and a little wobbly plus the mega sized stand which has a very short neck looks very odd aesthetically .
The refresh rate is ordinary at 60 Hz. Few games for the very young have also been included which need to be controlled using the remote control .
Build Quality
Seems strong, sturdy, sleek and slim with minimal border and more or less light weight . The remote is also slim, lightweight and strongly built with 2 AAA batteries included .
The transform stand or base seems very big and odd. It can also be used as a Rack and hence the name transform stand but that will happen I you don't use it as a table mount and wall install the TV .
The wall mount kit will be bought separately by the LG demo guy later . Once TV is wall installed the Base stand call be pulled out by tugging a small lever, inverted and used like a TV rack using a small attachment that's a part of the accessories .
Warranty: 1 year on-site not covering accidental physical damage and only against manufacturing defects .
Final Verdictt - I would have loved if the led tv had 2x usb and 2x hdmi ports but sadly I have to settle for 1 each .
VGA port is really superfluous as we are already big time into the HDMI era .
Apart from a slight pixelation everything else shines about the TV and hence I will rate it a 4 off 5 . Since the hdmi/ usb ports are tough to reach it would be great to pre-include extension cables for both . The remote interface isn't(on the TV) the coolest and it's not easy to locate and play media off the USB initially for the first few days . The fast forward and rewind functions are partially buggy as the exact position cannot be recalled /reached. Though I admit the TV loads up the media quickly once located and plays it almost instantly .
Those who love quality audio should consider buying a separate audio system like Philips DSP475U Soundbar(with Wired Subwoofer) for example .
