I think other than Vijay Amritraj no one has been really an international figure as far as Indian tennis is concerned. This dusky young lad from Calcutta is a gem. He has the potential and the temperament. However his consistency in the game is something that has always been the concerns of all fans.
One thing that is very disappointing is the fact that the tennis star has been found to neglect his doubles games to concentrate on singles. Although we have seen that in the past he and Mahesh Bhupati have been able to reach the very pinnacle of international tennis. Bhupati is as much talented doubles player as Paes but it is very sad that the duo is having some problems among themselves.
