It’s amazing. It’s incredible. It’s outstanding. It’s marvelous. It’s emotional. It’s sensational. It’s crazy. It’s sensuous. It’s admirable. It’s caring. It refreshes you.
It makes you laugh. It makes you cry. It makes you sad. It makes you happy. It makes you think. It makes sense.
It shows corruption. It shows honesty. It shows selfishness. It shows devotion. It shows failure. It shows weakness. It shows strength. It shows opportunity. It speaks the truth.
It’s Lage Raho Munnabhai directed by Raj Kumar Hirani and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
It’s a movie that’s simple yet unique. It’s a movie that entertains and educates. It’s a movie that’s well thought off and painstakingly made. It’s a movie that has a prefect cast. It’s a movie that touches your heart. It’s a movie that brings Gandhism to the limelight.
It’s all about Munnabhai falling in love with a radio jockey’s voice and his desire to meet her. So a contest on Mahatma Gandhi is announced and Munnabhai decides to participate. Enters circuit with his whacky ways to educate Munnabhai on Bapuji. What you get is unbelievable entertainment, never to be missed. After tons of laughter, Munnabhai emerges winner. The anchor of the show, Janhvi (Vidya Balan) is bowled by Munna’s IQ. Munna is in love with her. And we with her sensuous smile.
Janhvi then invites him to her house and to meet her six children. Munna is emotionally stumped. Circuit decides its time to pato somebody else. Later on they realise that Janhvi actually runs a home for the aged. Janhvi then invites Munnabhai to her home and to deliever a lecture on Gandhism. Munnabhai is in a fix and does not know what to speak about Gandhiji . Finally he ends up at a library on Mahatma Gandhi. He delves into books and then Gandhiji appears to him. Munnabhai just cannot believe it. So whenever he thinks of Gandhiji from his heart, he appears to him only. Now get ready for the next level of unlimited laughter.
Writing about the next level will simply blow the lid off one of the finest scripts, acting prowess and direction. It’s worth seeing and believing it to the core. And mind you, if all of us follow the ideologies set in the film, India as a nation will simply rock. Take the case of bribery or the case of cleanliness, which has been deftly handled. Not to miss is the subtle and superb handling of the senior citizen issues faced in modern society.
It’s a movie for the youth of today and a perfect recipe for their corrupt minds. That does not mean it does not appeal to all. In fact it’s a movie made for everyone.
It’s a movie that has everything gone true, except the songs. The only songs worth tapping is ‘pal pal’… and the title song.
It’s a movie that’s a case study in acting. You get to see one of the best performances from Arshad Warsi (Circuit). Look at his performance during the emotional scene between him and Sanjay Dutt and the drunken scene where he’s supposed to send Gandhiji in a taxi. Sanjay Dutt as Munnabhai is also worthy.
It’s a movie that has got the screenplay simply perfect. Awesome dialogues. Perfect scene representations and cut (edited) at the right places.
It’s a movie that has given every character a life till the end. The aged people, the selfish sardar (Boman Irani,) the guilt driven youth (Jimmy Shergil) and his father (Parikshit Sahni), the love and horoscope torn girl Diya Mirza and her father (Kulbushan Karbhanda), the esoteric astrologer (Saurabh Shukla) and the cameo appearance of Abhishek Bachan.
It’s a movie that’s clean. It’s a movie that entertains. It’s a movie worth every rupee. It’s a movie … bole toh… kabhi miss nahi karne ka bhai...!
