This review might seriously offend my ''Kolkata'' based friends.
I landed up in Kolkata early in the morning.
It was a period of SARS scare.
So we went through this ''medical examination'' where we were asked
if we had cold /fever/ cough.
We said NO WAY. They let us go.
(They were possibly relieved and hoping that we say no)
The signboard indicating ''Indian'' and ''Foreigners'' at the immigration bore a grim look.
The one good thing was that the Kolkata police officers were very efficient at the immigration.
The journey from immigration to the gate was fairly painless except for the fact that
you ran into cows and bulls once you are out.
The departure lounge is slightly better.
One thing which baffled me at the immigration (this holds for all international airports in India) as to why they have an emigration form.
I mean why do they care so much about people who leave the country.
Coming back to the lounge, the toilet facilities and the lounge after the security check is in a big mess.
I think it is only fair when international passengers ask for a nicer lounge when they are shelling out tons of money in taxes.
Even the domestic airport in Kolkata is better than the international.
The AAI needs to pull up their socks and renovate the place in addition to providing clean drinking water.
