Basics
A grand master in Chess is being framed for the ritualistic murders that seem to be going on around him, or is he being framed? (Can’t give away all the goodies here or you’ll not want to see the film.) When Peter (Christopher Lambert) is a child, he is a child star in the world of chess, being able to beat most of his opponents. One of his opponents even has a break down in the midst of a game and stabs him with a fountain pen. Some years later, when Peter is grown, he is a Grand Master at Chess. He’s still one tough opponent. However, someone is either out to frame him for these murders or he is actually committing them? While a major test tournament is underway, the murders keep happening. Not until right at the end of this film do we find out if he’s the one committing the murders or not.
In Closing
This movie takes the viewer through a maze of mind games and suspense. The similarities between actual life and the game being played makes for a wonderful twisting plot.
