Does anyone want to try an unusual but exiting weekend? Well there is a great place called Kihim Beach.
Mumbai has great beaches like Juhu Beach, Marve Beach, Madh Island Beach, Manori Beach, Gorai Beach, Arnala Beach, Alibag Beach, Kihim Beach, Murud-Janjira Beach and many more.
Kihim Beach is Situated 12 miles from North of Alibag, and 120 km from Mumbai.
Kihim Beach is an un-spoilt and isolated beach surrounded with brimming woods, wild and rare flowers, it is also famous for rare birds and butterflies. An exclusive beach, laced with coconut trees.
Kihim Beach is for people who are young at heart and for people who are constantly on the lookout for the unexplored and the unique. It has been organized by MTDC in an unusual Tent Holiday System to give a feel of nature. There are around twenty tents with facilities like fans, clean beds and good cafeteria. There are also cottages available near the beach. The beach was clean but the water was quite polluted. Hey but it is fun having Sun bath on golden sands.
Kihim Beach is also surrounded by attractive Murud beach, Historic forts like Kolabo Fort and Chaul, Churches and fascinating towers of St. Barbara. Also near Kihim Beach there is a small fishing village called Mandva surrounded with beautiful groves of Coconut palms which have its own charm.
By Road: Kihim is about 120 km about 2-½ hour driving time from South Bombay.
By Sea: Catamaran from Gateway of India to Mandva (45 minutes) and then by bus to the plot (15 minutes) would take a total of about one hour.
The charge for the catamaran is about 140 RS. return including the bus fare.
The package for 24 hours for a tent is 800 to1100 per head including breakfast, lunch, and dinner and evening tea. Food is good and hygienic both Vegetarian as well as Non-Vegetarian is served.
Give it a try and its endless coconut palm groves, rare birds and butterflies and overwhelming calmness will fill your senses.
