Hi, I visited Kerala in the last week of Oct. 2005 & I stayed at the following hotels. Those who wish to visit Kerala can stay at the following hotels. These are not economy budget.
Hotel SeaLords, Cochin
Rs. 2010 (Inclusive of Tax per night) Good Ambiance, Clean rooms
In Cochin, you can visit the Jewish Synagogue, Mattancherry Palace [Also called as Dutch Palace], Zoo, Museums Fort Kochi, Chinese Fishing Nets to name a few.
Hotel Issacs Residency, Munnar
Rs.2537 (Inclusive of Tax per night) Good Ambiance, Clean rooms
You can visit the the Evavikulam National Park, Devikulam to name a few.
Hotel Silver Crest - Thekkady
[Rs.2091 (Inclusive of Tax per night) Good Ambiance, Clean rooms [There was no hot water at night though. Only in the mornings]
You can visit Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. However there are two types. You can take the boat ride or the Sanctuary visit. However when I enquired about it, I was told that the sanctuary visit starts at 6.00 am and is there for the whole day till 6.00 pm in the evening and we would be taken to the interior of the forest. I could not visit owing to lack of time as we had a planned schedule. [Worth a try though]
Hotel Arya Nivas, Thiruvanathapuram
[Rs. 1255 (Inclusive of Tax per night) Ok Ambiance. Clean room, but I found it a bit cramped]
You can visit Kovalam Beach, Palace Museums. Dont not forget to visit Nayyar Dam. It is a few kms from Trivandrum. There you can visit the Lions Safari. You will be taken on a minibus into the lions safari enclosure and it is really worth it. While you wait for the mini bus, you can visit the crocodile park which is near by, around 5 minutes walk.
