I purchased the Kelvinator LS5P2 1.5 Ton 2 Star Split AC long back for my medium-sized bedroom, hoping for a cost-effective cooling solution. After using it for a few weeks, my honest experience is.
Design & Build Quality
The design is sleek and minimalistic, blending well with most interiors. The indoor unit is compact and doesn’t take up much wall space. The build quality is decent for the price, though not as premium as higher-end brands. The remote control is lightweight but could have been more user-friendly with a better display.
Cooling Performance
The 1.5-ton capacity should be enough for a medium sized room, and it does cool effectively if the weather isn’t extremely hot. However, on very humid or peak summer days, the cooling feels slightly sluggish, taking about 20-30 minutes to bring down the temperature.
The air throw is decent, but I noticed the cooling isn’t uniform in all corners. The lack of an inverter compressor means it cycles on and off, which affects efficiency.
Energy Efficiency
This is where the 2 star rating shows its limitations. If you are someone who runs the AC for long hours, expect a noticeable increase in your electricity bill.
Noise Levels
The indoor unit is relatively quiet at lower fan speeds, but at higher speeds, the noise is quite noticeable. The outdoor unit is a bit loud, which might be an issue if it's installed near a bedroom window.
Features & Usability
Basic but functional: It has essential modes like Cool, Dry, Fan, and Sleep Mode, but no advanced smart features like WiFi or self-cleaning.
Air filters are easy to remove & clean, which is a plus.
Installation & Service
Installation was quick and smooth, but Kelvinator’s service network isn’t as widespread, If you live in a metro city, getting service is easier.
Final Verdict: Worth It?
If you’re on a tight budget and need a no frills AC for occasional use, the Kelvinator LS5P2 is a decent option.
