Good morning to all the viewers of Mouthshut.com. Today I am going to write a review of Kaziranga National Park which is located in Assam, North East India.
Kaziranga National Park, which is known as the Land of the One-horned Rhino is listed among one of the Prides of India. It has an area which is near to 450 Square kilometers. Going back to the History, this National Park was formed in the year 1908 recommended by Mary Curzon.
Location: Golaghat and Nagaon districts of the state of Assam.
How to Reach:
Well as the National Park is located at the North Eastern Parts of India one has to travel via Guwahati which is corridor to the North East. Guwahati can be reached via Train and Airways from all parts of India. From Guwahati the Park is around 210 Kms. One can opt Train, Bus or Private Cabs services from Guwahati to Kaziranga.
Best Time to Visit:
The Park is mostly opened from November to April and rest of the time its closed due to the Floods.
Where to Stay:
Now one has to do a little home-work for getting getting a better stay option near Kaziranga National Park. I will list a number of Hotels and Home-stays that I know. They are Hotel Landmark Woods, Borgos Resort, Wild Grass Lodge, Kaziranga Resort etc.

Types of Safari and the various Ranges of Kaziranga:
There are 4 Ranges: Mihimukh in Central Range at Kohora, Bagori in Western Range at Bagori, Agaratoli in Eastern Range at Agaratoli and Ghorakati in Burapahar Range at Ghorakhati.
Jeep Safari:
Well Maintained Maruti Gypsys are available as vehicles for the Safari and below are the two timing slot. Morning timings is from 7.00 am- 10.00 am and Evening timings are from 1.30 pm-3.00 pm. 5-6 number of people are allowed per vehicle and also is accompanied by a forest guard for safety. An amount of 1500 to 1800 may be the safari package fees depending of the range that we select.
Elephant safari:
Elephant Safari is only available for the Central Range and Western Range only. They provide only 1 hour of safari that too in the early morning viz from 5.30 am-6.30am and the charge is INR 900 per person.
Now what can be seen in Kaziranga:
Kaziranga is almost covered by tall grasses which are known as the Elephant Grass, open jungle and short grasses. The wild animals found primarily in the park are Rhinoceros, Elephant, Bengal Tiger, Leopards, Sloth bear, Hoolock Gibbon, Golden Langur, Wild water buffalo, swamp deer etc. Mostly Rhinoceros and Buffalo are seen during the safari. It is also a home to a variety of migratory birds and game birds. Python, King Cobra and various other venomous snakes are also found in this Park.
I have been to Kaziranga National Park twice and it was quiet a great stay for me and my family. We have been to the Kaziranga National Orchid And Biodiversity Park where in we saw many different kind of Orchids and also we had a Great meal.
Its really a nice place and yes it should be visited once in a Life time.
