Bajaj was supposed to launch Kawasaki Ninja 250cc in April 2008(Source: Bajaj Probike showroom.). But they postponed it as they wanted to see response to Yamaha R15. It is supposed to be priced Rs.2, 20, 000(Ex-showroom)(Source: Probike showroom). Kawasaki Ninja has proved itself on road all over the world. Its one of the most popular sporstbike. It is originally a 1, 000cc bike. The one coming to India is 250cc & is fully imported. It does not come with digital speedometers.
Bajaj is also launching KTM bikes in India. How is it going to manage so many models in its showrooms?, though these bikes will be sold only in Probiking showrooms.
Bike leaders like Honda, Yamaha launch limited models every year and manage them very well. We have seen so many bajaj models coming out every 3 months & disappearing in a matter of time.
As Ninja will be fully imported, definitely availabiliy of spares, cost of spares & trained personnel for service is a matter of concern.
On other hand Yamaha R15 is made in India. Most of its spares are manufatured here, except for few'key' parts. Yamaha is now wholy owned by Yamaha, Japan & not es*orts India. Kawasaki will be managed by bajaj. This difference really matters a lot, as Bajaj is fully dependent on Kawasaki. Lets hope we all get a good relaible bike, and value for our money.
